Chargers | Doctor releases medical report on Brees

Thu, 2 Mar 2006 13:10:15 -0800

John Clayton, of ESPN.com, reports Dr. James Andrews released an encouraging medical report on San Diego Chargers QB Drew Brees' surgically repaired right shoulder, saying that Brees' strength is rapidly improving and that he is expected to make a full recovery for the start of the 2006 season. Brees is scheduled to become a free agent, as Chargers general manager A.J. Smith has said the team has concerns over Brees' surgery which have limited the teams' financial commitment. Andrews' report said that Brees could be allowed to participate in a team's minicamp in May. "At this point, he is eight plus weeks post-op and is ahead of schedule relative to his healing process and recovery," Andrews said.
