Zach Wilson arm strength

i saw his games against Coastal and UCF in one he was overmatched by nobodies and in the other he was beating the pants off of nobodies

He wasn't overmatched at all. In fact, his Coastal tapes produced some of his most remarkable throws of the season. The drive he directed at the end of the game fell one yard short of a miracle comeback. Peter King wrote a column a few weeks ago talking about how the Jaguars OC -- Brian Schottenheimer -- called the BYU OC to talk about Wilson specifically because of what Wilson showed in the final drive of the Coastal game.

Wilson has one of the best arms (not just strength) combined with accuracy and off platform I’ve seen in a long time.

There’s a reason Jax is sending their playbooks to him. They are doing a legit deep dive, as they should. Will they take him over Lawrence? No.

But in most draft, Wilson would be the top QB taken. We should be running to the phone after his pro day to trade Sam.

To be honest we should already be in offense install mode with Zach. I actually think there is a very real possibility of JAX taking him.

Consistent and accurate. Consistently accurate - good enough for me.

what was special about Aaron Rodgers coming out that Zach Wilson doesn’t have coming out? Not saying he’ll be Aaron Rodgers but you’re requirement of running a fast forty or some other measurable is irrelevant for a QB.

Aaron Rodgers had system questions - to that point no Cal QB had been good.

consistent accuracy in NCAA isn't the same as NFL accuracy

Sam Darnold and Mark Sanchez were both "accuracy" guys coming out - read the scouting reports - they and Rodgers at least did it in the Pac 12

Wilson best games are against mountain west /independent schedule

He's got a top 5 CFB offensive line, 24 and 25 year olds blocking for him and a draftable WR on the team and half of American Samoa on defense, it's not like he's playing on Wyoming. but BYU plays no one beats no one real and that's the issue that can't really be explained away before the draft

this guy really needs another year of college to season but they are striking while the iron is hot i.e. before he gets hurt again

Ok even if all this is true, for the sake of argument

quick name one player on Coastal Carolina or who ever went to Coastal Carolina without looking it up

he's playing vs noones

Former Ohio State head coach Urban Meyer calls Trevor Lawrence "the best quarterback ever"

Teddy Rydquist | 2 years ago

FOX Sports analyst Urban Meyer had some high praise for Clemson quarterback and Heisman Trophy favorite, Trevor Lawrence.

Discussing the possibility of another Alabama-Clemson matchup in the College Football Playoff, Meyer broke down why it all hinges on the sophomore.

“It’s very hard to repeat. Once you win it, everything changes.

“I think Dabo Swinney, as long as he can keep that team together…the quarterback is the best quarterback in college football, ever. But what about the rest of the team? Are they going to stay focused and keep swinging like they did last year?”

A few of Meyer’s own pupils – Tim Tebow, J.T. Barrett, Dwayne Haskins – rank among the game’s most prolific quarterbacks.

For his part, Lawrence was about as impressive as possible in his debut season. Starting the final 11 games of the season, he helped guide Clemson to a 15-0 record and the program’s third national championship. He completed 65.1% (259-398) of his passes for 3,280 yards, 30 TD and just four interceptions.

Announcing his retirement as Ohio State’s head coach following last season’s Rose Bowl victory over the Washington Huskies, Meyer is now serving as an assistant athletic director at the school, in addition to his duties with FOX Sports.

Stepping up into the full-time head coaching role following his 3-0 debut as the interim in 2018, former offensive coordinator/quarterbacks coach Ryan Day named sophomore Justin Fields the starter for Buckeyes.

Playing in 12 games for the Georgia Bulldogs last season, Fields transferred to Ohio State in January and was granted immediate eligibility by the NCAA. The No. 5 Buckeyes will face FAU at Ohio Stadium on Saturday at 12:00PM ET to begin their season.

Just a tought but does it worry the people who want Wilson as our new qb that there is a good percentage of people on this board who want to stick with Darnold, even after 3 year of complete garbage with the odd flash of brilliance we would rather him as our Qb over wilson.

The 32nd qb in the nfl over wilson......either the Darnold people are mad or the wilson people are getting carried away with anyone over Darnold.

No. There is consensus on Wilson. He could still flop. But in terms of traits and potential he is a #1 pick in almost every NFL draft.

Are you serious? Coastal Carolina was ranked 12th in the playoff rankings at the end of the season, and 14th in the nation by AP.

We've already squashed your injury argument, and the "Zach Wilson isn't special" garbage. What else ya got?

For anyone that's been on Jets boards long enough this is absolutely not a concern. Hanging on to sh*tty QB's in internet arguments is the one thing this fanbase does better than anyone in the world.

You do realize that "level of competition" has almost literally ZERO attach rate to success in the NFL. In fact you could make an argument that a higher percentage of the top "small school" first round guys have been more succesful than the majors.

And the funny thing is that some analysts believe CC is his STRONGEST tape, because they had an awesome game plan, he struggled a little early, was plagued by drops and in the end adjusted made some insane throws and came within one yard of victory. In fact if he had gotten that yard everyone would be pointing to that as one of his best tapes. People need to watch that game.

Pretty much everyone said that then. QBs evolve over time.

I forget how BYU are perennial contenders...They were good because they had Zach Wilson.

19-30 for 240 1 td 1 INT

Only semi legit defense he faced all year.  This wasn’t him facing Ohio State or Alabama it was freaking Coastal Carolina. That’s the definition of not special

No. He is not the only person on his team. Plus i saw a star where they had incredibly low talent on the team. I mean seriously do you expect BYU to be an Alabama?

Yes it’s a team sport but Wilson if he’s so good should have done better.  He loaded up against nobodies like Navy, Western Kentucky etc

We're talking about the NY Jets drafting him.  For f**K sake it's not like were asking him to QB the Saints.  We're the Coastal Carolina of the NFL.

Nah!

The board is almost always divided.   People are wrong, people are right.

All this fluffing of Zach Wilson is bull sh*t right?

No-one actually thinks this kid is going number 2?

It's Fields or Sewell or a trade back.

No way JD drafts this oft injured twink.

You can criticize a player without using homophobic language. I have faith in you.
