My Updated 3 RD Mock for DraftDaddy

Green Jets & Ham

Recommended Posts

ROUND ONE

==

01. Hou Texans ~ RB Reggie Bush, USC

Runs like Tony Dorsett and he's the best receiving back I have seen since James Brooks, only far more explosive.

==

02. N.O. Saints ~ QB Matt Leinart, USC

Highly decorated passer who translates well to the next level, with enough arm to excell in the NFC South.

==

03. Tenn Titans ~ OT D'Brickashaw Ferguson, Virginia

Could be a QB in this spot, but I'll project the dominant franchise left-tackle to replace Brad Hopkins fow now.

==

04. N.Y. Jets ~ QB Jay Cutler, Vanderbilt

DraftDaddy was projecting Cutler in the TOP 5 when it wasn't fashionable, now we have plenty of company.

==

05. G.B. Packers ~ DE Mario Williams, NC State

Packers are lucky to find a 290+ Pounds edge rusher/run stuffer, the rarest of breeds, staring them in the puss.

==

06. S.F. 49ers ~ TE Vernon Davis, Maryland

I watch this kid on film and my jaw drops every time. Could be Kellen Winslow, and I mean the one in Canton

==

07. Oak Raiders ~ LB AJ Hawk, Ohio State

Raiduh fans had to believe Hawk was lost when they blew that coin toss with frisco, but Vernon saved your skin.

==

08. Buff Bills ~ DT Haloti Ngata, Oregon

Sometimes it seems like the Bills are just destined to always clog the middle with 340 Pounds of hardcore beef.

==

09. Det Lions ~ QB Vince Young, Texas

Millen could be thinking, if I hit a homerun with Young {and he might}, that will change my legacy in Detroit.

==

10. Ariz Cardinals ~ RB LenDale White, USC

I love big backs with skill, especially when they have a nose for the endzone. Reminds me of Larry Johnson.

==

11. STL Rams ~ DB Michael Huff, Texas

The Rams might set a new world record running this card to the podium. Huff can excell at CB or S.

==

12. Clev Browns ~ LB Chad Greenway, Iowa

This is a big/physical Patriots linebacker from the word GO, and I'm confident that's what Romeo has in mind.

==

13. Balt Ravens ~ DE Tamba Hali, Penn State

Tenacious pass rusher for a LDE. Immediate upgrade over Weaver. Suggs & Hali can wreck some havoc.

==

14. Phil Eagles ~ DT Brodrick Bunkley, Florida State

Bunkley has shined in his workouts at 6' 2"+/300+ Pounds, and scouts already knew he was a terrific player.

==

15. Atl Falcons ~ OT Winston Justice, USC

If Kevin Shaffer departs via free agency, the Falcons will make this pick in two seconds flat.

==

16. Mia Dolphins ~ DT Gabe Watson, Michigan

Saban is from the Parcells lineage, so he knows the planet theory. If you don't know it too, do a google.

==

17. Minn Vikings ~ RB DeAngelo Williams, Memphis

... and the Vikings war-room busts out the champipple.

==

18. Dal Cowboys ~ LB D'Qwell Jackson, Maryland

Don't believe the hype, DJ is going much earlier than you think. This kid is a wrecking machine.

==

19. S.D. Chargers ~ OT Eric Winston, Miami

After the Brees injury, Chargers will be extra careful to protect Rivers. Eric's stock is on the rise.

==

20. K.C. Chiefs ~ WR Chad Jackson, Florida

Blazing forty at the combines {4.32} solidified his status as a TOP 20 Pick, and he's a six footer, not a smurf

==

21. N.E. Patriots ~ DB Jimmy Williams, VaTech

I Guess it's true what they say about the rich getting richer. This is a Patriots DB, versatile and skilled.

==

22. Den Broncos ~ WR Santonio Holmes, Ohio State

Broncos have a good but methodical passing game, what they need is a homerun hitter like Holmes.

==

23. T.B. Bucs ~ OLB Ernie Sims, Florida State

Who better to succeed Derrick Brooks than yet another Seminols assassine.

==

24. Cinn Bengals ~ DT Rod Wright, Texas

Bengals D-line is in need of a complete overhaul in my view, and Wright is a nice place to start.

==

25. N.Y. Giants ~ LB Bobby Carpenter, Ohio State

Giants linebacking core is a farce, and Bobby C is exactly the type of ferocious LB they need.

==

26. Chi Bears ~ OLB Thomas Howard, UTEP

Everyone is projecting a TE here, but I'm projecting a super-unit pick as Chitown seeks to replicate the 85 Bears.

==

27. Car Panthers ~ TE Leonard Pope, Georgia

Howard's name was written on the card when the Bears threw them a curveball, so they take the big tight end.

==

28. Jax Jaguars ~ RB Laurence Maroney, Minnesota

How thrilled would the Jags be if Maroney fell to them here? Can't draw it up any better than that.

==

29. Den Broncos ~ DE Mathias Kiwanuka, BC

I have a hunch Denver will deal a first round pick for John Abraham, but if they don't Kiwi makes sense here.

==

30. Indy Colts ~ CB Tye Hill, Clemson

Speed kills and it especially kills in the dome, and this kid runs a 4.3 flat. Fastest time at the combines.

==

31. Sea Seahawks ~ OLB Demeco Ryans, Alabama

Thus ends the amazing run on linebackers in round one. Seven in total, which may be a record number?

==

32. Pitt Steelers ~ CB Ashton Youboty, Ohio State

This is awesome value at 32, with more to come, which really speaks to the depth of quality in this class.

==

ROUND TWO

==

33. Hou Texans ~ OT Marcus McNeill, Auburn

==

34. N.O. Saints ~ CB Antonio Cromartie, Florida State

==

35. N.Y. Jets ~ C Nick Mangold, Ohio State

==

I like all 3 picks you have the Steelers taking, Ham. My gut feeling this year is that Nick Mangold, Center, from OSU drops to us at #32 and is our pick. CB isn't our top priority IMO. We have some youngsters there with a ton of talent (if they ever let em' play man!). ;)

ham you know you are my boy but Marcus McNeil is not going in the second round after running 5.07 at 340. Also manny lawson ran a 4.41 and blew up the Senior Bowl practices he's a first round lock. I still don't know who the eff Ko simpson is.

He's a beast of a Safety bro.

I'll be suprised if he doesn't go in round #1:lock:

i know WHO he is but what i don't know is who's d--k he's sucked to become such a highly touted player. What was his 40 at the combine? I've broken down every South Carolina game i can get my hands on and he's invisible on tape. Jon Joseph on the other hand is all over the field. Ko Simpson is pure hype. Everyone is pumping him up and no one knows why.

ROUND ONE

==

04. N.Y. Jets ~ QB Jay Cutler, Vanderbilt

DraftDaddy was projecting Cutler in the TOP 5 when it wasn't fashionable, now we have plenty of company.

==

05. G.B. Packers ~ DE Mario Williams, NC State

Packers are lucky to find a 290+ Pounds edge rusher/run stuffer, the rarest of breeds, staring them in the puss.

With Abe on the outside looking in, this would be a huge mistake for the Jets if the pass on Williams and take a huge risk on Cutler at #4.

there are other DE in the draft. No they aren't 295 and run a 4.6 but there are a ton of DE in the draft, not to mention the Jets existing talent.

If they don't get cutler there are maybe 4 other viable names in this draft at QB position... and none are what you would call protoypical franchise QBs.

in terms of sheer supply and demand the supply for franchise Qb is shorter than the supply of DE and the demand for franchise QB for the Jets is higher than the demand for replacement DE.

Frankly i hope they keep Abe, anything they get for him will probably be a rip off.

I pretty much agree with everything you said.

My point, from a risk factor, would be less with Williams then it would be with Cutler.

But there aren't too many other DE in this draft who could play in a 3-4. We may not be switching in year one under EM, but we will be switching before long. Doesn't make sense for us to draft most of the "other" DE's in this draft unless we just want to have a body to be a backup DE for one year & never see the field beyond special-teams after that. Most of the better DE prospects according to draftdaddy seem to be only suited to a 4-3 due to their lack of size (Mario being the obvious exception, with a possibility of Adeyanju - though that would require putting on weight that may negate his speed that makes him so attractive as a big 4-3 DE). A few may fit in as a 3-4 OLB but there don't seem to be too many who could fit in a 3-4 as a DE.

Bit your expertise is requested here since I can only look at #'s on websites & haven't seen any of them play. None of these guys have elite DE speed, but who could project AS A FUTURE 3-4 DE what's your opinion of (and likely drafted-round) for:

Jason Hatcher

Johnny Jolly

Barry Cofield

Leon Moore

Others (either college DE's or college DT's that potentially could be converted to DE)

Johny Jolly is an interesting name. There are actually alot of smallish DT that could play 3-4 DE. also some larger DEs who are sleepers.

These are IMO the best 3-4 DE in the draft:

Claude Wroten, LSU

Kedric Golston, Georgia

Kyle Williams, LSU

Dan Federskil, Calgary

Chris Gocong, Cal Poly

oh and FWIW Drob has played and can play 3-4 DE very well. it's not a huge need.
