Miami traded back up to pick 6 with Philly

Recommended Posts

Miami is 100% taking a receiver.  and if quarterbacks go 123 and possibly four we know Cincinnati’s probably gonna go Sewell. Miami trades back to six and probably gonna get there pick at whatever receiver they want and get a free first and the third for it. Brilliant!

So the Eagles who were just SLAUGHTERED for not trying to beat Washington in a lost season last game of the year last year by every one and their dog could make the move they just made because they picked 6 rather than 10, they get a better mid round pick this year and a 1st round pick next year.

All because they did not win a shi**y meaningless game.

It’s weird.  As soon as soon as Frank Reich left the entire management went to complete S

Only idiots I heard slaughtering the Ealges were the idiot Giants fans and the idiot Giants organization. To which I told any idiot Giants fan I know, next time win more than 7 games in a year and you won't need someone else to win. So stupid to bitch about another team when you won 7 games.

Or Joe got Howie to float the interest to build up the value for #2.......

To add to this. What if Joe has another team on the hook for #2 ie Carolina, Denver knowing they want Wilson. He's just gathering all his intel w/5 weeks to go..or he is taking Wilson..Who knows??

Almost all of the national media talking heads just berated the eagles and Pederson over that game, they just killed him.

Seems like a lock that Wilson - Fields go 2-3 in either order.

So that puts ATL at #4 looking at Lance or non-QB.

Would they move up to #2 and what could they offer to do it?

Also, is SF really going for Fields or is there interest in a swap with the Jets?  Don't know if they have anything left to trade though so probably not.

Definitely time to rework all those mocks.

Sweet deal for Philly.

Does remove a little of the theory the Jets didn't want to move out of the top ten.

No it's only Miami's GM who realized he could take all their extra picks and move back up.  Some on this board think this concept is beyond  the reach of our man Joe.

The observation on nfl network seems sound, ohio state has not had their pro day but bama and N.D. (Lance) have and yet they make the trade.  That suggests they are trading up not for fields but for lance (or mac jones)

Philadelphia Eagles @Eagles

Trade: #Eagles have traded picks No. 6 and No. 156 overall to the Dolphins in exchange for No. 12 overall, No. 123 overall, and a 2022 first-round pick.

So their net gain from dropping from 3 to 6 (and from 123 to 156) was a 2023 first round pick and 2022 3rd? That ... does not sound like a good series of deals for Miami

This is sort of big news.  I can see the Jets not moving from 2 to 12, if they weren't taking a QB, but hard to imagine that they wouldn't move to 6.

Very much so. Either Philly wasn't willing to pay up, or the Jets are sticking and picking the QB they love

In aggregate it's not really great, but if they were set on taking either Chase or Pitts anyway, then it makes sense as one of them will almost certainly be there at #6.  That's kind of the money spot if you aren't taking a QB.

One way to look at it is MIA is loading up to make a run at Watson next year.

Joe Douglas thinking the same way?

It seems like he set the price for #2 about a week or so ago, and that's why everyone's late to the party saying how expensive it will be. The Jets people did a 180 last weekend and were like I don't think there will be the kind of market for #2 that we thought because Douglas doesn't want to move out of the top 10 and wants FMV for #2.

It's sounding more and more like FMV to Douglas is a top 10 pick, at least another 2nd round pick, and two future first-round picks, if not more.

Yeah I'd have to agree. Especially in that crap division Philadelphia could quite easily win it, and with even a 1 & done it's maybe not even a top-20 pick a full year from now. There's a reason they trade-value picks a year later as a full round later.

Sometimes teams get lucky (like Miami did in a big way with their pick from Houston) but sometimes you're Oakland and you lose Khalil Mack, figuring to get back a minimum of one top 10 pick - hopefully top 5 - and the big pick clincher pick you get back is #24 next year & the next-best one is #19 two years later.

So Miami traded back from #3 to #6 and got back the value of a 2021 2nd rounder and a 2021 3rd rounder. Meh, I'd be pissed if we moved down from #2 and that's all we got. Especially a team already armed with an extra 1st rounder this year as Miami & the Jets both are this year.

Different situations, though. Miami is surely targeting 1 of 2 players they're guaranteed to get at #6 so taking either one at #3 is overkill and the other picks they got are freebies. Jets aren't in the same situation at all.

Sounds like MIA is looking at one of Chase or Pitts to be there.  Good chance that happens.  But man, if they went #4/#5 in the draft, that fan base would melt down.  They could certainly take Smith, Sewell, or trade down again, but it would blow up their hopes and dreams, which is always a bonus.
