It’s incredible how Jets fans like to act like Rex did everything with “Mangini’s teams” — Cashman all of his success in the late 90’s early 2000’s was with rosters pretty much built from scratch by Gene Michael and the previous GM Bob Watson

 

The guy just is not that good. Even the success in recent years was mostly due to Gene Michael nailing draft pick after draft pick and now he’s dead.  Cashman has a license to do whatever he wants and he’s not a great talent evaluator so get ready the 80’s are back

Bench Hicks for good. The guy effing sucks. He's been a .220 hitter for 3 years now.

Now Clint Frazier........the Yankees just dont know how to let guys get out of a slump do they? He's been a good hitter every year the last few seasons, they annoint him the starting LFer before the season and now bench him for Gardner after he has 5 poor games. You cant make this stuff up. BTW, Gardy sucks.

Cashman is the main reason Yankees haven’t won a Championship forever.

For a long time he passed on top starting pitching, finally signing Cole for huge bucks  when he was desperate.  He Doesn’t really understand player development and proper roster use and overall has engineered many badly designed teams even though he’s always been on top or near the top in overall salary.

I mean you have Gardner, why did you need Ellsbury, a clone? you had Judge why did you need Stanton, another clone .

This season’s moves were typical.

He needed a First baseman due to injury so he decides to go with a 36 year old, bad fielding , HR / KO guy who bats under the Mendoza line with a terrible onbase percentage and then trades a solid contact hitting 2nd baseman for Odor, another .200 hitter and Occasional HR/KO guy when he needed onbase type guys in this batting order.

the development of Gary Sanchez as a hitter has been terrible, he was a huge talent coming in, until Judge and Stanton starting hitting STATCAST HRs and Gary started swinging twice as hard to show he could keep up, where was the mentoring? 
Guy is the most overrated GM in all of sports, Teflon, press likes him so, he hangs around.

All that being said, this Yankees team has too many players and too much pitching not to start winning.Nobody ever won or lost the WS in April, I expect a run soon, in spite of Yankee managment.

Not only does Hicks not hit or steal bases for a young CF with speed the arm strength on his throws has been lacking this season.  That was supposedly his specialty

Judge out at 3rd base to end the 8th inning. Yet another base running mistake by this team. It's like every game.

Where is the coaching? This team is so bad and here's why - they should be good. A few key moves/trades and better coaching and this team would take off.

Lets not forget the Yankees were 33-27 last year. So pretty much a .500 team. They are blowing this window to win.

Aaron Boone was a highly talent athlete, from a three generation baseball family and pretty much, his baseball career never really amounted to much, sans the one big HR.

He was NOT a smart player , not a guy who maxed out his ability , yet, somewhere along the line somebody decided he would be a great manager.

Like-able  guy who has shown nothing to suggest that he is anything but a typical old boy network hack, who is being told by the computer guys who to play .

Boone finally got ejected last night. Took him way too long to do that with a struggling team but maybe the fire has finally been ignited in him. Somehow I doubt it.

As far as I'm concerned this teams window has already closed. We're going to have to look a lot different and soon if we want a chance to win anything.

Again, here’s a guy who started out like a great hitter and then with the STATCAST stuff and Judge & Stanton getting made a big deal of, started swinging harder and harder and ruined his career.

Where were Yankees Manager, GM and a top batting instructor.Their current hitting instructor couldn’t hit righties his entire career and was a poor fielder, this is their guru ?

Tauchman, who can play all 3 OF positions well and one of the few base stealers on the team, making like league minimum and has been starting to heat up at the plate lately - has been traded. For a bag of doughnuts. Horrible move by Cashman. Seriously, wtf? He's a better player than Hicks.

Baserunning?  During the Cashman era?  The only base running he cares about is the jogging around the bases after one of his free agents hits a meaningless hr in garbage innings

Traded Tauchman for a middle reliever with a 5.40 ERA

It’s still the Orioles though, but it was nice to see. He hasn’t pitched in a year so him along with Taillon and Kluber may get progressively better (I hope)

It looks like German’s first start was just him being nervous.  Yankees really need him to be a solid #2 starter

 

My hopes for Taillon aren’t other than him being a decent back of the rotation guy

German is coming back from over a year off, it can take a few starts.

Taillon and Monty are coming back from a lot of injuries.  It'll take a bit to see what they have.

The bats suck, and Judge is hurt again.

Adding Severino in July is a huge addition, Yankees need to hang in there and start getting some clutch hitting.

Can win the games with 7-8 runs and then come the next day and score 1.

Timely hitting, building runs with good outs, good base running, it’s all 0art of it and then the HRs.

The announcers are raving about Marcus Thames as the hitting coach.  I really don’t know about that

The lack of fundamentals and bad decisions keep showing up everyday.  Boone only decides to bunt Wade (Wade should have been bunting from the start of the at bat) after he’s down 2 strikes.  Wade sucks at bunting so he bunts foul which is a strikeout

Yeah Detroit is a triple A team.... they got shut down by a Marlins reject too. A win is a win though. Houston will play is pretty tough. I think this may show us if they turned the corner.

I still cant understand the Tauchman trade.

Hicks is hitting .150 right now and Garnder sucks too. Hicks has been bad since 2018.

Man, the pitching has improved.

That's the thing, a lot of guys are coming back from injuries, so it'll take some time for them to round into form.   That being said, I don't know how many innings these guys can go this year.
