Darnold to the Panthers

Good trade by the Jets. Although they don't get much this year, they get a 2nd rounder and a 4th rounder next year to help build around Zach Wilson, who is going to be our pick.

I wish Sam Darnold well. I hope he has a long career in the NFL.

I agree. While I’m relieved that the Jets traded Darnold, it’s pretty sad that we’re here only three years later. I was more hopeful about Darnold than any other Jets player in my life.

Jets played it exactly right. They had a rare opportunity to start fresh with a highly rated QB prospect and took it. The only difference between the Jets and the Panthers is that the Panthers had no other options for upgrading their QB. They saw that the top 5 was going to be gone by pick #8. So they're taking a shot with Darnold.

At what age did you discern that you had the ability to tell other fans how to be fans? Did it happen when you became mod or was it at a much younger age? Just curious. 

You take a QB until you have a QB. The Jets haven't had a QB. Was Sam the closest thing we've had to a drafted QB since Sanchez? Yes. Doesn't matter, he didn't show enough. Move on and move up. Onto the next.

It is absolutely not overstated. There were fans acting like Darnold was almost a lock for stardom. Now it’s going to be the same thing for Zach Wilson.

What’s crazy is that the Jets had plotted out a scenario where they would potentially trade down and enter next season with Darnold and Pitts. 

Carolina now has Darnold, and if Pitts falls to #8 (crazier things have happened), they will absolutely take him.

good point made earlier in thread (i only surfed first few pages) is that its ok to spread the picks
in order to sign more of them over time and/or stack them for trade-ups.
also i think the deal is better than 3,5,6 this year (if you back up the rounds for the delay).

I mean...this is the key to success for every other team in the league absent those with a generational HOF QB. It's just been so long since we didn't have the 32nd/33rd ranked GM in the league that we forgot it was a possibility.
