The overwhelming majority of evidence tells us that QB's lift (or bring down) the personnel and supporting cast around them far moreso than the other way around. QB's make the most money on the field, and more than GM's or coaches, for a reason. You can either play the game well or you can't. And its telling that the 2 people who repped this post are @Pac and @genot. lmao. With Pac and genot calling the shots, the Chiefs would have stuck with Alex Smith. Ok self appointed GM. RG ?.......RT Fant . They could also grab a RT and slide Fant to G or grab a center and slide McGovern to G. Lots of options but I definitely sense JD doesn't mess with the OL and uses 2 top picks here. "They'll get all these linemen." "They have all these picks." "So many options." "We're in great shape." Man, it just doesn't matter. This isn't directed at you specifically because even I get jaded by the optimism and the "what if" of a #23 pick, a #34 pick, etc. as if the Jets will miraculously do something correct with them and find the right guys after hopefully also doing the right thing at #2 and picking the best available QB out of the 3 or 4 choices JD will have. I just can't be optimistic anymore that they'll do the right thing. The odds are much, much higher (probably 75% or better) that the Jets will mess up AT LEAST one or two of those first three picks. IF they get the QB wrong at #2 we're in limbo for another 3-4 years like we were with Darnold. If they get the right QB but f*** up the upgrade on the OLine by whiffing at #23, 34, etc. then we're putting Wilson in the same situation that degraded Darnold beyond repair here. So much has to go right immediately that it's almost unfathomable, knowing the history of this team, they'll be able to pull it off. Remember, the only reason Sanchez even had some short-term success here was because he landed behind an OLine that had D'Brick Ferguson, Nick Mangold, Brandon Moore, Alan Faneca, etc. and was throwing to Braylon Edwards, Santonio Holmes, etc. from starting field positions that an excellent defense was giving him. We have NONE of that right now. BUT... we've decided it makes sense to throw a shiny new QB into this situation (again) and ask him to gut it out while we spend the next two years building around him "the right way" without the willingness to overpay at just one position critical to QB success like Guard with a guy like Joe Thuney. So I'm with you..... I want to be optimistic. I see the picks we have, I see the future Cap space (that we decided not to use on OLine this year) and say to myself.... it just doesn't matter. I'll believe it when I see it. If we get the QB right and can't get the OLine picks right then we're screwed. If we get the QB wrong then it doesn't even matter what we do the rest of the Draft.

Favre was 39 and suffered a bicep tear the one year he was with the Jets. Prior to that injury, the Jets were 8-3 and had the # 1 ranked offense. Dale Berra, Rod Scurry all big coke fiends for the Pirates back in the 70s and Keith Hernandez admitted that’s basically where he scored his coke every trip in. Spilled over to college ball. Marino was certainly a party animal so the story fit. True or not. What really made Shula a slime-ball, was when he allowed the stadium to be flooded the night before the AFC Championship game between the Fins and the Jets, and purposely did not put the tarp on the field the night before when everyone knew it was going to rain a lot. He did this because he wanted to negate the NY sack exchange, and felt he had a better chance of winning if the field was a mess, which it most certainly was. Big_Slick
Wow!! I was out and then was watching the Yankees on tape delay before I saw the news. I'm not going to read 26 pages of posts, my thoughts are below. 1 - I am 100% behind Wilson (or Fields). 2 - That was a pitiful return for Sam. A 6th this year is a wipe your ass pick. 2nd next year is like a 3rd and a 4th next year is also a wipe your BS pick. 3 - JD has bet his career on a match stick QB who'll most likely be 'broken' (physically) in his rookie season. Again see #1) I am 100% hoping that Wilson is the guy. 4 - Jesus H fricken Christ - I don't have many rebuilds left in my 67 year old body. At least I saw one Jets championship in my life. 1

I personally prefer picks in future drafts where the evaluation process won't be so sketchy. As far as Sam Darnold goes, I'm sorry it had to end like this. I for one probably defended you more than deserved, but I legitimately believe he is a better player than he showed here and he was dealt a sh*t hand development wise. Big win for Sam. He gets a legit shot in a better environment with better coaching and talent. It's not every day that you go from handing off to Frank Gore to handing off to Christian McCaffrey. DJ Moore and Robby Anderson will be the best WR1/2 combo Sam has played with in the NFL. The fact that the Panthers are picking up his 5th year option gives some stability and the Panthers will essentially have a two-year total cap cost of about $24M for Sam with the 5th year option. Having the #8 pick this year helps as well. It's rare that you get a win-win-win in a trade but when you look at the Jets getting a 2nd, 4th, and 6th, sending Sam to a NFC team, Carolina taking an immediate QB need off the table without using a 1st round pick and staying at #8, and giving Sam upgraded coaching and talent around him.... that's kinda what this is, at least on paper.

The Jets draft bad QB's. Darnold was one of them. Darnold arrived as an extremely flawed prospect, one which didn't play QB in HS, threw a bunch of INT's and led D-I in fumbles his final year at USC.
