All true, Burrow averaged 40 attempts per game with only a 6.5 yard per attempt.  I agree, the book on Burrow is far from being written in stone yet.

We've drafted plenty of stout, injury free QB's who have sucked at the NFL level.  The last decent QB we drafted who didn't suck at the NFL level was Chad who was fragile as an egg and had a rag arm.

Wilson has the arm, the release, foot speed, work ethic and his a prick.  Everything you want in an elite NFL QB.  If he gets hurt he gets hurt.  Very few elite NFL players walk away from the game and live a healthy normal life.  Injuries are part of the game.  This obsession with injury potential is insane.  The brain is protected by a skull.  There isn't an NFL QB on any roster who's brain isn't at high risk to concussion and incremental permeant injury.  

All fine points, but it’s not the injury risk I’m all that worried about with Wilson, it’s the idea that he’s going to have to learn how to play QB while under dire physical duress on every play—something he hasn’t had to do at BYU. He’s going from getting sacked 11 times in 12 games to a situation where he’s going to get sacked 11 times every two weeks. Pretty big learning curve on that kind of thing, you’d think.

If the Jets are running Shanahan's system, they'll do a lot to protect him. Hopefully they draft some guards, too.

But that's a factor that gets overlooked. He's the best fit at QB for their system.

Because Joe Douglas has one year plus of draft history. The Macc/Idzik/Tanney...Etc, etc years are irrelevant to JD. In simple terms of value, this trade hits it out of the park. It’s now Douglas’ job to draft well. If that doesn’t meet your expectations, well...sorry.

Based on the fact that the kid has graded out as the worst starting QB in the league during his stint here.

I was a huge Darnold fan for more than a year before we even drafted him. But no one is giving you a kings ransom for a player who has largely been a major disappointment, regardless of him being thrown into a pretty sh*tty situation from the get-go.

Hell, Darnold’s age and the belief of many that he has some untapped potential is the only reason we were able to get this much for him.

Who are all the college QB that "play QB while under dire physical duress on every play—" in college? Fields?  Lawrence?  Jones?

I am now clinging to the idea they haven’t signed their backup QB yet because when they bring in someone whose game meshes more with Fields it removes the odds that they can get SF to give them something to flip picks and get Wilson. Very much a long shot.

Understand your narrative around 1 year wonders being scary - and i'm with you I actually am not sold on Kyler at all, but the Burrow "facts" are more so "jaded opinion" 

 

They both had strong years and are going to be top 15 qbs in the league for a long time, and burrow did it behind an offensive line ranked worse the Jets. Look for them to load up on OL in draft, starting with their 1st pick.
