kelly
The worst kept secret at One Jets Drive has left Joe Douglas without many offers for the No. 2 overall pick. New York hasn’t received many legitimate calls from teams for their first-round selection, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, despite the bevy of prospects at the top of the draft. Some of this lack of interest may be because of the price it would cost to move up – the 49ers gave up three first-round picks and more to trade up from No. 12 to No. 3 – but most likely it’s because many teams assume or know the Jets are taking a quarterback and aren’t interested in giving up the pick. “It seems to be what everyone thinks is that the Jets are going to take Zach Wilson,” Rapoport added. “Everyone is so sure that they haven’t even bothered to call.” Douglas effectively admitted the Jets are taking a quarterback when he traded Sam Darnold this week and told reporters it’s a “fair assessment” they’ll draft his replacement. It’s almost a foregone conclusion that the player will be BYU’s Wilson, too, based on the optics that both the 49ers and Eagles traded on the same day as Wilson’s pro day with Douglas and Robert Saleh in attendance. The 49ers moved up to No. 3, while the Eagles traded back when they realized there was no shot they could move up and get Wilson. Hall of Fame quarterback Steve Young also reported the Jets were “committed” to Wilson. Douglas noted that Young is “plugged into BYU pretty well,” per ESPN.At this point, it seems like it would take a king’s ransom to pry the second pick away from the Jets. With Douglas locked in on his quarterback of the future, it wouldn’t make much sense for them to trade back and lose out on the player they covet just for more draft capital. > https://jetswire.usatoday.com/2021/04/08/2021-nfl-draft-jets-havent-received-interest-no-2-pick-zach-wilson/

Irish Jet
Because any team would be wasting their time. We’re taking Wilson. The league knows it.

Joe W. Namath
Just like i am sure the Jags arent getting calls about #1. When you need a qb, their are 2 elite qbs in the draft and you pick 2, its not rocket science for teams to decide not to waste their time. oatmeal
You’d think if #2 overall and Darnold were both up for sale that teams would evaluate both. And after that evaluation the conclusion is obvious: No way the Jets keep Darnold and pass on a rookie in this class

What they're really saying is that teams aren't interested in the price because the value of taking a QB there is so high to the Jets that other teams aren't going to give up the enormous amount it would take to budge the Jets off that pick. They don't have to speak to Douglas to know he wants more than what #3 overall got because that was already available to him and he turned it down. bitonti
There's 2 reasons for this 1 trading up to 2 is extremely expensive 2 other teams are not as high on wilson as we are

Is dependent on the assessment that Wilson is the Jets’ choice. It could also mean that the other teams assess that if the Jets do not take Wilson, he and the remaining QBs are of similar capability. Peace Frog
I wonder how many offers the Jags are getting for Trevor. I put the over/under at zero.
