Sam Darnold elects not to thank Jets fans like most athletes do.

Anyone else find it weird with all the praise of what a great person Sam is that he has decided to not say a word? Usually when this happens the athlete makes some sort of statement thanking the fans of the team he is leaving and that he gave it his all and is looking forward to the new opportunity etc. Absolutely radio silence except a surprise party of him cheering the move which Mike Greenberg took advantage of to trash the organization with. Oh look how happy he is to get away from your sh*tty team says a smiling Greenberg.

Edit as reference from a great post by jetfreak89 This is Jamal Adams, who most fans hate, goodbye after he was traded.

Im sure if Sam has communicated with the Jet's future QB, he's communicated privately with a bunch if his ex teammate's. The organization and a large number of the fan base, doesn't deserve that kind of courtesy. He was handled as poorly as any potential FQB can be handled. The Jet's did nothing to make his transition to the NFL a smooth one Nothing.

You care way too much.

Explains why you followed Wilson’s mom on IG & his dad on Twitter.

For gods sakes.

People fell for this shi*?

Social media has replaced dogs as something you that tells you how much it loves you 50 times a day,

GO GET A DOG!  OR DAWG IF YOU ARE JAMAL!

Or, the Jamal post just reveals how fake a lot of these “goodbye, thanks for everything” posts are.

Of course it's fake! What do you think I really believe he is going to hold NY Jets fans in his heart forever?? No. But again, it is still something that MOST athletes do after getting traded, signing elsewhere in the offseason or retiring.

I'll put it this way....if Jamal DIDN'T make a post like this after getting traded, I bet a large part of this site's "No big deal" group would make a thread about how much a punk he was and how immature it was to leave without saying anything.

It's a total double standard.

Maybe he's just waiting until he passes his physical and the trade becomes official.

It already is official. It was announced on the Jets and Panthers twitter handles. They don't do that until its official.

Obviously the immediate reaction is "who cares about social media??" but posting a goodbye to fans and former teammates has essentially become an "industry standard" for professional sports.

You can call it fake, insincere or whatever but it does show a certain amount of respect to the fans that supported you and maturity to do it.

Why does Sam get a pass because he was treated unfairly by a lack of talent around him?

If Jamal Adams can post this after everything that went down at the end of his tenure here than Sam has no excuse:

Thank you for the clearest example of how phony and unnecessary a social media farewell really is.

Do you ever have to do something "phony" or "unnecessary" for work? In most jobs you do at some point.

Lol, nope. I was union my entire career, in a job where I often got to call management at 3 AM and tell them what to do.
