kelly Posted April 15, 2021 Share Posted April 15, 2021 The Jets have been one of the worst pass-rushing teams in the NFL over the past few years, but Joe Douglas is trying to change that quickly. He signed Carl Lawson, Vinny Curry and Sheldon Rankins to join Quinnen Williams and John Franklin-Myers on the defensive line. All but Rankins finished with at least a 70.0 Pro Football Focus pass-rusher grade and all five ranked in the 80th percentile in pressure rate, according to Jets X-Factor’s Michael Nania. Combined with defensive tackle Foley Fatukasi, those six combined to sack the quarterback 22 times and tallied 74 quarterback hits last season. Curry said the “the sky’s the limit,” while Rankins added that the Jets defense will “do some damage.”Saleh’s defense is known for speed and pressure – and that’s exactly what this collection of linemen offer. Jeff Ulbrich will run the defense as coordinator, but the scheme will feature a lot of Saleh’s work in San Francisco and Pete Carroll’s in Seattle. On paper, this group is formidable.
