Two things I get the distinct sense of from Beck's interview:

1) He is as sure as can be that Zach Wilson is going to the Jets at 2.

2) He is concerned that Justin Fields is going to fall, and was trying to encourage teams outside the top 10 to trade up and pick him.

We hear all the time about players saying so and so team told me if I drop to them they would take me. The more I find out about Joe it appears he is just a very weird guy. No reason to play games at this point. Zach should have the full playbook and be getting a head start before rookie mini camp just as Trevor is doing.

Maybe, if he's the pick. Maybe he's not. Unless your driver's license says Joe Douglas on it, then it doesn't matter how tight you fold your arms and roll your eyes, we don't know for sure. 

More over though, Giving the playbook to a kid a month early and telling him you're the pick is equally as stupid as it is smart. For a lot of reasons. We also waited to trade Sam... you think they were going to send him a playbook before we traded him? lol is this your first rodeo.

I would pay good money to have the muscle facial specialists interviewed in BLINK to do a reading a on that interview. There's something stupid like 3000 muscle in the face, and they numbered/labeled all of them and when studied, basically tells the truth about anything... lol they could tell you within 80% accuracy whether a couple was going to divorce by facial analysis alone.

He may actually have the playbook.  In an earlier interview with him from a few weeks ago (before his pro day) he said he had a few teams playbooks.  They were basically testing him.  He didn't say which teams gave it to him but I did hear the Jets spoke with him relatively often and spent a lot of zoom time with him.

I have to say, JD does seem like a weird guy - I mean at some point there's no reason to play games.  There's simply no reason for subterfuge.

I would still peg Zach Wilson as the favorite, but I never thought he was a lock for the 2nd pick, and I will continue that thought process until the draft happens.

The 2018 Draft and how it played out with the QBs really taught me a lesson there. It should have taught everyone a lesson really. So I'm going just going to wait another 2 weeks and watch it all unfold

The kid seems like a film rat.  

He has a weekly radio interview on BYU radio (like the one up here) but it's every week.  They're really interesting to see how he watches film and what his goals are in the NFL.  If you have some time check them out - from like March 1st on, they're 10 minutes and pretty interesting.

He seemed tired. He has been very animated and personable in his other interviews. He is probably on Zoom calls 10 hours a day. After a few weeks it just drags you down.

Look, the rest of the interview is good, it's like he's a sullen person and I didn't think that interview sucked at all. I enjoyed the interview.  And the many I've seen from over the past couple of months...

But yes, his reaction to being drafted by the Jets wasn't good.   He didn't give the ole "Where ever I'm drafted is not up to me but if it's the Jets I'll be super excited - like I would be with any other team" Something like that...Maybe talk about the young talent etc...He didn't - just went on to talk about how trades happen all the time.  Honestly, I can't really blame him for being concerned.  The truth is Sam got killed last year and JD hasn't upgraded that OL.  I would be worried too. 

With that said, to your point - I would have loved to have seen his face light up when the NY Jets were mentioned.  We're two weeks away, he should start playing the role a bit.

This was Zach's face just before he was asked by the interviewer if he thinks he's going to be drafted by the Jets (6:19 mark of the video).

Unfortunately we have a toxic reputation when it comes to QBs. Would you want to come here after what they did to Sam?

I took it as him playing it cool until the actual pick is made, which is what he explicitly said was his attitude in the interview! But hey, I understand why Jets fans are ultra neurotic and sensitive about everyone hating the Jets.

Lol he was clearly tired... If you think that’s a turn off id suggest you watch any fields press conference. The guy has a terrible attitude on the podium, comes off totally condescending and annoyed to be there. I pointed this out months ago when I was full on hyping fields, it was my #1 concern at the time.
