Justin Fields revealed epilepsy battle with teams before 2021 NFL Draft

"Justin Fields, one of the top quarterbacks available in the 2021 NFL Draft, revealed to teams during the pre-draft process that he is managing epilepsy, NFL Network reported Wednesday.

The Ohio State product has reportedly not been affected on the football field by the neurological condition, which can cause seizures. The report also says his symptoms have been less frequent in recent years and doctors believe he’ll outgrow it as his older family members have.

Fields, who finished the 2020 season as the Big Ten’s Offensive Player of the Year and a unanimous first-team all-conference selection, is expected to be at least a top-five pick in the draft later this month. The Jets, who own the No. 2 pick, have looked into Fields but are expected to take quarterback Zach Wilson out of BYU.

The intrigue will begin at the No. 3 spot where the 49ers are planning to select a quarterback with Fields, Trey Lance and Mac Jones all possibilities.

The 22-year-old led the Buckeyes to an undefeated regular season and Big Ten championship in 2020. Fields engineered an upset of Clemson in the playoffs with a brilliant performance before the Buckeyes fell to Alabama in the national title game.

Fields came in seventh place in the Heisman Trophy voting after entering the 2020 season as a leading candidate."

I wonder how much this will affect his draft position.
