Smizzy
Jets | Lack of CBA stability a sticking point in Pennington talks Fri, 3 Mar 2006 20:58:04 -0800 Ken Berger, of Newsday, reports one factor related to the collective bargaining agreement has been a sticking point in negotiations with New York Jets QB Chad Pennington. Without a CBA in place, salaries can not raise more than 30 percent in an "uncapped year." Pennington is scheduled to make $4 million in base salary in 2007, which would mean his minimum base salary for 2006 can not be lower than $3 million. The nuance prevents the team from slashing his current $6 million base salary for 2006 to the minimum as previously planned by the team. The two sides are continuing talks to work on alternatives. .
