What does Rodgers sitting behind Favre for 3 years have to do with Wilson at all? Has any first round QB since Rodgers sat for 3 years? I’m confused how this is relevant in any way to Wilson or these other QBs. Can someone fill me in? What did I miss?

Cowherd, in the video in the first post in the thread, compares Wilson to Rodgers and makes the argument that if Rodgers was a "hot mess" in his first season as a starter, which came after sitting for three years, then what hope is there for Wilson.  Cowher says is the Wilson to Jets is the "trouble spot" in the draft, arguing that Wilson is certain to bust with the Jets.  Again, Cowherd's argument.  Not mine.

Nobody is suggesting that Wilson should sit for three years.  At least not that I have seen.

It’s one of the dumbest arguments ever.  Rodgers fell to a team with a HOF QB.   Rodgers was signed for peanuts and he was mishandled because the Packers didn’t have the balls to move on.   He was great in spite of the complete mismanagement of the Packers in his development.

This is a totally new regime.

Nothing that had happened since the start of the BS Covid era had anything to do with this NY Jets team.

Get over it.

Not sure what I’m suppose to be getting over. If there’s something, I’m over it.

You can be both excited and aware of the reality that is the NY Jets. We all hope this regime is different. I certainly do.

Be a much better scenario if we could start a vet and let the kid come along slower. Even half a year until the New Coach, New Oc, O line issues, other rookies and just the team as a whole starts to come along. I just see many growing pains for a variety of reasons and I’m afraid Zach will either be injured or spirit crushed in the process.

I think that would be ideal as well. Let Zach sit while we get all the kinks out of the system.

OMG - that cant be a real stat.  Seriously?  0-5, 1/7 vs. teams with 10+ wins in college?  what?  wow.  holy sh*t

Hold on to your panties boys, this is going to be a wild ride!!!!!!!!

Yuck.

And these were his full numbers in those games:

  • @ Boise State (2018):  18/27 (67 %), 252 yards, 9.3 YPA, 0 TDs, 0 INTs, 1 Rushing TD
  • vs. Utah (2019):  21/33 (64 %), 208 yards, 6.3 YPA, 0 TDs, 2 INTs
  • @ San Diego St (2019):  31/53 (58 %), 316 yards, 6.0 YPA, 0 TDs, 2 INTs
  • vs. Hawaii (2019):  24/40 (60 %), 274 yards, 6.9 YPA, 0 TDs, 2 INTs, 2 Rushing TDs
  • @ Coastal Carolina (2020):  19/30 (63 %), 240 yards, 8.0 YPA, 1 TD, 1 INT

Totals:  113/183 (62 %), 1,290 yards, 7.0 YPA, 1 TD, 7 INTs, 3 Rushing TDs

He did do well against these decent teams, however:

  • 2018 vs. Hawaii (8-6):  3 TDs / 1 INT
  • 2018 @ Utah (9-5):  2 TDs / 1 INT
  • 2018 Bowl vs. Western Michigan (7-6):  18-18 with 4 TDs / 0 INTs
  • 2019 @ Tennessee (8-5):  19/29, 1 TD
  • 2020 @ Boise State (5-2):  3 TDs / 0 INTs
  • 2020 Bowl vs. Central Florida (6-4):  3 TDs / 0 INTs

Yikes and again, I dont think the level of competition stuff is overly concerning but some of this has to give you pause because he seemingly cant play up.  At least not in college, which is scary. However, stats arent everything.  For example, Tenn.  Probably the best game I've watched of him yet, it was one of his worst stat lines.  Now Tenn. was terrible and 0-2 at point in the  season but still, he went on the road in a tough place to play and led them to a comeback/OT win.  Showed some ice in his veins but not being able to play up, is scary AF.
