I like Elijah Moore a lot more than you do, but I agree with your sentiment. To me it’s not a disaster because I think he’s a good player, but what the heck there’s so many good players still to be had in round 2 and 3 that would have made foundational sense to the team. A trade down to the mid 2nd and targeting   guys like Rondale Moore + using the 3rd on a guy like Elerson Smith or stashing a guy like Spencer Brown to develop would have had so much more value to the team long-term.

Oh I disagree completely. I love Rondale Moore but he hasn’t really had to catch the ball in traffic and comes with major injury issues. And he’s not going to be there in R4 unless his medical was a disaster. Eskridge is old and learning to play the position.

And I think a few things regarding Jenkins. One is that he’s got some medical questions and some personality questions - they’re clearly focused on character fits. Another is that, while a RT is nice, he’s not overtaking Fant for that job this year. So you’re squeezing him in as a starting guard, which is fine. But I’m not sure two rookie starting guards really moves the needle or is even a short-term upgrade. Then you’ve got that he’s only comfortable on the right side. The tackles who are really valuable play both sides. Also any offensive linemen he takes today and tomorrow have their contracts expire at the same time as Becton. So I think it’s one guy, and based on all the outside zone center fits in this draft I think it’s one of those guys. Makes more sense than tackle which they can just address next draft and they can still get the upgrade at guard kicking McGovern there and they can not move the draft pick around from year one to year two.

I get wanting him, I definitely saw the appeal. I also question a little how they’re getting those receivers on the field in this scheme. But I do very much get why that wasn’t a clean fit. And I know he hasn’t been taken yet but I feel like Owusu-Koramoah is the guy they’ll miss.

I agree with you, but at the same time - I also like what we did.

It's not the same as past years when we've done stupid crap like take Jace Amaro in the best WR draft ever.

Sorry fella, totally respect your draft work and knowledge here but Rondale is basically a slot too, he’s barely 5-7 175.....and has been injured most of the last 2 years(this team doesn’t need anymore injury prone guys) ...great special teams guy as a returner but I’d worry about his durability if he’s been injury prone already.

Elijah is everything Rondale is IMO and more, he’s a thicker, stouter body with tremendous agility and body control, runs terrific routes and has produced...and he’s coming off that Ole Miss WR pipeline that has sent some top top guys into the league the last few years....he has pedigree ..... I hope you’ll come round to loving the pick.

There’s a reason Rondale is still available nearly 50 picks in and clearly the reason we stayed put is because those teams that wanted to trade with us were almost certainly coming up for Elijah Moore....we got a steal

All we saw before this draft was there was only 15-20 first round grades in this draft.

Everything after that was about equal thru the middle rounds.

I think this assessment aligns with a LOT of rankings boards I've seen. I cannot complain... and I always root for trade downs.

Exactly my take. Moore is a Good player but we have so many holes. We find a way to even get a 5 for Crowder before the season and like sign a CB it would certainly make a tonnnn more sense and much easier to get pumped about Moore.    On the flip side big Moore barely sees the field this year bc of Crowder the pick makes little sense.

I agree, largely i’m happy because the trends from last year are happening this year. 1) we finally have a GM that understands drafting premium athletes 2) He’s drafting synergistically with the coaching staff’s preferred system 3) He dares to build an offense. 

I’m just slightly down on the crapping of draft value we did so far. Love Veratucker and Elijah Moore on this team though, they’re going to really help us be better offense next year.
