You don’t draft a LG in rd 1, let alone top 15, let alone TRADE UP FOR HIM otherwise. It does look like Ground n Pound 2.0 You absolutely draft a generational LG in the top 15, and you absolutely trade two 3rd rounders to do it.

If there is a corner(a need) there they love or an edge then you gotta consider it too. I mean 3 of our last first rounders have been offense do they are focusing on that but it’s ok to build the entire team too As far as I'm concerned it does HAVE to be offense. Anything else would be negligence. 1

If a corner is the top player on their board you do it.

I'll trust Douglas, but really not liking the trade up when Jenkins was there at 23. Unless Jenkins gets picked by Jacksonville at #33, Jenkins will still be there at #34. Tucker would not have been there at #23. That is the difference. As most Jets fans know, we need more than one starter on the O line. That being said, the potential is there with AVT.

Idiot franchises like the Jets sign Leveon Bell then expect him to run for 2,000 yards behind our crappy OL It’s like ppl haven’t watched Daddy and Jr. Shanahan pull 1,000 yd rushers out of their ass behind a dominant OL 🤦🏾♂️

#27TheDominator
I am wondering if the Jets don't like Jenkins attitude. He has the quotes we like about liking to hit people, but he is generally described as "colorful." There is also the quote in one of the old-school draft sites that some scout said "he was an odd dude that might quit on you" but should go early day2. That does not sound like the Joe Douglas mold. If Becton gets hurt Jets now have AVT...who can slide over and hold down the LT position if he has to. Great pick and worth the cost to get him.
AlexVanDyke
I don’t think many people if any will argue about the player or fit. AVT just makes perfect sense. The argument is whether it was too much to give up and of course hindsight on how the board went allows us to always make that argument. Bottom line, if Jets had avt as a top 10 on the board, the trade makes perfect sense

Cp561
Nelson is quite the lofty bar for an NFL guard to reach. This guy doesn't have to be as good as him to be a home run pick at 14. If we can get a steady pro bowl caliber guard who can help stabilize the line for 8+ years, you happily will take that

They must have had him as an elite level prospect on their board.... I'm with you...take Jenkins at 34 and we've rebuilt the OL. I don't think they'll do it though. If they take Jenkins at 34, the OL is set and we can go BPA this year and next.

I would think Douglas was sold on AVT’s ability to play every position on the line if needed, and he did it well. The only other OL from SC that could do that was Bruce Matthews, maybe you people know other OL like that, who were drafted to the NFL and succeeded.
