shutout
Could someone please, please explain to me just how Cinderella Man isn't even nominated for Best Picture? Absolutely brilliant movie.

Sharrow
Misportrayal of Max Baer. Russell Crowe's accent. Predictable storyline. 2.5 hours when you know how it ends. Rocky Balboa. Enough said. Maybe the sequal entitled "I'm not gonna fight the top contenders so I can keep my title longer" will get the nomination after it comes out. Sharrow
But I do agree, with a name like "Cindarella Man" it would fit right in.

Bugg
It should have had some gay cowboys, gay journalists covering homicidal maniacs, homicidal maniac terrorists, journalists ignoring commie scum in the 1950s or transexuals in it. Or may be just a homicidal commie gay transexual terrorist. Alas, James Braddock is a total nonqualifier. Then it would have received Oscar consderation. How "Walk the Line" snuck in there for anything is a miracle.

The Gun Of Bavaria
Cinderella man doesn't have a political message of any degree. It's just a feel good movie and the *******s don't like those. Sharrow
Well, feel good movies have been done 100 times before and 100 times better. It didn't deserve to be nominated for best picture, enough said.

Preston Howley III
Agreed, Hollywood has an agenda; so why don't they make movies about homosexual heroes that actually made significant contributions to civilization, like Alan Turing- the British Intelligence agent that cracked the German's Enigma code during WW2. Bugg
Also, as per the best song winner last night, Hollywood wants you to know-pimps are people too!Up with pimps! They aren't exploitive, manipulative, criminal, violent, misogynist, or bad in any way. Don't you dare get judgmental. And the hoe and b!tch stuff is no big deal. Pimps are just entry level workers looking to move up the economic ladder of the American economy. Think of a young good-hearted man out of college or just out of the military (or in most pimp's cases, recently out of jail for a felony, but let's not look too closely at that)looking for his 1st real job-same thing. As per Hollywood, your daughter or sister would be lucky to be employed by such visionaries as those depicted in "Hustle&Flow". Pimps and their business-perfect together! What a proud evening for Hollywood! Every cop is a criminal and all the sinners saints.

Garb
If a Rap song can win "best song" at the Academy Awards - then I truly am out of touch. That said, Hustle and Flow was a great flick and better than the Award winner "Crash" - the predictable story of racial tension in LA.

Bugg
Simply, as Chad Pennington might say, pimping is so hard. Not apparently hard enough to seek higher education and/or gainful and legal employment, but hard nonetheless.
DireJet38
hahahaha...Hollywood isn't in the business of creating the moral concious for America...they make movies...entertainment. Politically charged? Yes, in some cases but if you don't like it you have the same right to create something you feel better suits the award...no one will stop you. Anyone swayed into the occupation of "Pimp," after seeing a movie that gorifies it has problems that stretch beyond the scope of a movie screen. DireJet38
I don't believe so...they make movies...movies are art...art can be taken on different levels...it's all the choice of the viewer, they arent given a labotamy with a side of popcorn upon entering a theater...sure they may create discussion, but that discussion can fuel both spectrums of the left and right. And that is the point, to create discussion, not to influence an individual one way or another...we aren't apes...it's simply a platform and a platform is level, even and allows for the exchange of different ideas. Really? Did you watch Crash, Syriana or Brokeback Mountain? Are you seriously saying that there is no agenda in Hollywood? BTW, all three of those movies stunk, and yet they somehow found their way to the Oscars. Go figure.
DireJet38
yea, ive seen syriana and crash...no desire to see brokeback. I think that we are in an era where politics and moral values are the hot topic. It is what grabs peoples attention. Hollywood grabs the hot ticket and creates. It will automatically have an audience and be controversial therefore creating a buzz and more ticket sales...same reason that movies revoloving around steroids in major league baseball will be made...topics that are relevant and grab the viewers eye.
