Show Your Mock 2022 (All JN Mock Drafts Merged)

Thinking about how Joe Douglas seems very comfortable and willing to trade on draft day and factoring that that there is more value in the bottom half of round one than the top half, I see some trade backs with the Jets top 2 picks. I just don't think JD will think any of the top Edge guys or WRs - -  or any player at any position this season really warrants the typical value of a top 10 pick. So, I think he is going to trade back on both picks.

You and I are thinking very much the same as far as positions go in this draft. I did one yesterday, and double dipped at Edge, TE and WR. took Ojabo in 1st, and Drake Jackson in 2nd. Treylon Burks in 1st and Erik Ezukanma of Texas Tech in 3rd. Took Sam LaPorta in 4th and Trae Barry in 5th. Love jarrett Pattrson, took him late 2nd with one of picks I acquired in trades. Also took DT Devonte Wyatt in 3rd via a trade.

First 2 mock attempts.

this first one I did not do any trades

1988324078_notrades.thumb.png.9a6bea7dd805de15cfff26b7f7fc9d33.png

Next I did accept trades, mindset was Joe D will be getting some quality FA's at WR and help on D. He's gotta spend some $$$....Hutch and Thib were gone and I decided to trade back both 4 and 6... got 1 next year from Pitt and a 2 next year from LV there were other picks received I forgot what they were.

I agree.  Edge/wr in round 1 with more of a possibility of trading back from Seattle’s pick than the jets’ own pick.  Then OL/lb in round 2.

Nice haul. In your first draft, the stick and pick one, you probably got 6 starters. In #2, Ingram at 69, was second mock I've seen this AM that had him to us. The other was on PFN.

damn ... like worst case scenario lol... this place would be printing up the Fire JD banners

I mean I don’t know to be sure but the 49ers drafted a lot of DT types early, Fatukasi is expiring, and Rankins is the only proven depth. A guy like Leal who’s a DT/DE tweener could mix and match with JFM and add a little front four pass rush pop.

I did a mock today that ended up with Thibodeaux, Leal, Dean, McBride, and Ruckert as the first two days and honestly adding those guys, fixing up the front seven, going 12 personnel base on offense with Moore and Davis starting…I think would go a long way towards improving the team on the field even if its not at all how I’d like to see them do it. And those tend to be the scenarios fans all discount but teams end up doing.

 if you don't move back I don't know how you don't take Neal and then maybe consider DT... I don't know why we need to draft a DT high when we can find those guys for this system later.

im not sure about Elam, maybe he would be a good fit but where we are picking those 2 I am not really a fan. think its too early

not saying you're wrong just my thoughts.

Too many “don’t”’s in that first paragraph for me to understand what you mean. I don’t like the idea of taking Leal I’m just saying I wouldn’t be surprised if they did it.

Said in the original post I don’t think they take a corner and don’t think Elam goes that high.

PFN is seriously flawed.  It let me do this:

4. Aiden Hutchinson

6 => 7 + 105

7 => 10 + 46

10 + 46 => 15 + PIT 2023 1st

15. Tyler Linderbaum

35 + 69 => 26 => Treylon Burks

38. Jalen Wydermyer

So by dropping 3x with the SEA pick, I ended up getting the top Edge, top C, top-3 WR, top-3 TE

while adding picks 105 and the PIT 2023 1st.

I wasn't even really working the trades that hard.

What it does for me is confirm that trading down with the SEA pick could be really interesting.

I mean both linderbaum and Burks are late teens/20s picks. The #6 pick is generally very valuable to trade down with.  Sounds about right to me. I wouldn’t even say it’s that flawed. Some of their prospect rankings are tho.

My favorite one yet. The more I look into this class the more I notice how much depth it has. I screwed up and took Braxton Jones instead of Max Mitchell, but meh jones is alright too I just like Mitchell more and I’m excited to see what he can do at the senior bowl. Besides that I can see all of these guys starting within a year.

Lots of trade downs obviously and i hope the jets take this tact, some okay depth in this draft but spotty high end talent.

I was able to get most of my fav players in this draft regardless of positional rankings.

(Linderbaum, Burks, Kolar, Cook)

This draft is loaded with defense. I’d attack offense in free agency and focus on remaking this d in the draft

I’m really iffy on karlaftis and stingley.

A lot of what I’ve seen/read on karlaftis seems like he’ll be a better 3-4 edge. He’s good against weaker competition, but he has a hard time getting past the better OTs when his hands are in the dirt. He tends to get outmuscled at the line against stronger guys.

the whole stingley thing worries me. He was fantastic his freshman year, but only decent in his soph and jr seasons with the little he played.  It’ll be over 2 years come draft day since he’s had good tape. The only good wr he’s played against the past 2 years that I can think of is d smith and he went off against him.

if we can’t get hutch/thib I’d try my hardest to trade back. Take Hamilton with the hawks pick and one of the wrs/lbs/drake Jackson/ojabo with the trades pick

I am curious how frequently trade downs are actually available in real life. In the simulator they're almost available for every single pick.

That's fun to play around with, but is it anywhere near realistic?

You could get a taker for every pick if you settle on less than market value, but you're not getting a haul or even the draft chart, unless someone really covets that player.

Sometimes it's ok to get a little less than the chart.

This team has so many needs, I'd love to see JD trade back at least once and pick up additional draft choices the following year.
