How are Hutchinson and Thibodeaux making it to four on mock drafts?

Neal goes early on a lot.   If someone trades up for a QB.

Just did one where Kyle Hamilton went #2 to Detroit.    Pretty sure that isn't going to happen.

So, by trading down from 4 to 15, 19, I essentially traded Hutchinson for Linderbaum and Ojabo.   I'm curious on people's thoughts on this, especially since I don't have the great in depth knowledge about this years draft.

Draft 1.PNG

Draft 2.PNG

I think hutch is better than ojabo short term, but long term ojabo might be better. I really liked ojulari last year and he fell to the mid 2nd so it’s possible he falls too. Picking up linderbaum for free pretty much is a nice bonus

I got an interesting one today.

Hutchinson fell to #4.

The Eagles offered #15 and #19.    Would you do that deal?   Why or why not?

yes i would.  Its a deep edge class and anyone we draft will start as a rotational player.  Adding an additional first this year allows you to add another blue chip player.

Would have liked to grab a LB in here but other than that I would love this draft. Did some maneuvering down & up with trades here and managed to get my two favorite TE's in the 2nd round, and push some draft capital into 2023 (CAR 1st, CHI 3rd).

Latest PFF mock draft via the simulator...No trades.

*I tried to be realistic with my selection. Only taking guys I thought would be available.

Rd. 1a: George Karlaftis- DE/Edge: nothing new here. Assuming Thib, Hutch, Neal go top 3, its still between Karlaftis and Ojabo at #4 for me.

Rd. 1b: Ikem Ekwonu- OT/G: Here's a guy who could be gone by pick 10. But he is projected to play G at the next level and typically G's fall a little bit, even if they are versatile enough to move to the outside. For the Jets he will be a plug and play G with Becton and Fant manning the outside, AVT and McGovern solidifying the rest of the line. Jets look for depth in FA.

Rd. 2a: Trey McBride: Not much to say here. Still on the board so I swooped him up. In this simulation no TEs went in Rd. 1. As much as I love McBride, I think that's a distinct possibility this year.

Rd. 2b: Kenneth Walker- RB: This was a wild card pick for me. Jets fans will hate it. They would be screaming for a WR or LB or Safety or anybody but a RB! But this guy is an explosive playmaker. While I know comparisons to great players are often silly, he reminds me of Alvin Kamara. Him and carter with a good O-line could be devastating.

Rd. 3: Alec Pierce- WR: A favorite of mine. Here, I take a developmental big 'X' WR. Pierce has enough of a deep threat skill set that he fits the role Mims failed to live up to so far. Love the way he plays. JD should also add a WR in FA. Drafting Pierce would make their WR room look like this: Davis, Moore, Mims, Pierce. Thats not great. So bringing back Berrios and adding a FA should still be on JDs list.

Rd. 4a: Alec Lindstrom- OC:  Developmental C to take over McGovern's spot after next year. McGovern has one more year on his contract and then he is a FA. He's had some ups and down but has settled down and become a solid foundation of the interior of this line. However, he's not cheap and theres really nothing dominant about his play. He will be going on 30 when his contract is up. I think the Jets will want to move on and having a replacement waiting in the wings would be stellar. Lindstrom would also add depth. Right now the Jets have Feeney backing up McGovern (who is actually hurt).

Rd. 4b: Devonte Wyatt- DT: Probably another selection that will make Jet fans pull their hair out. But I think we could see a shuffling around on the D-line. Fat is a FA, Shepherd is a FA, Rankins was a detriment against the run and underwhelming as a pass rusher- he would save about 5mil if he was cut. I think the Jets also want to re-sign Q. Wyatt would add depth and is a versatile lineman who should bring some added stability without Fat. He's very solid against the run and athletic enough to be a 3 down lineman. In this scenario, the Jets plan to let their FA linemen walk, cut Rankins, and develop Marshall while adding Karlaftis and Wyatt. Lawson, Q, JFM, and Karl. or Wyatt would potentially start with one of Wyatt /Karl or Marshall and Huff along with any FAs as rotational players- inside and on the edge. I think once the top DTs go off the board there tends to be a lull. Wyatt does not have elite upside and should be available in Rd. 4. He was here and I took him.

Rd. 5a: JoJo Domann- OLB: Love this guy. Athletic, speedy LB with some very nice burst to go along with solid coverage skills. Seems like a perfect fit for the scheme, even if he would be more of a situational player. Plays like his hair is on fire. I also feel like you can't go wrong with Nebraska LBs as long as the athletic profile is there. Will he be there in Rd. 5? I think so. Again, he's probably not a 3 down LB in the NFL.

Rd. 5b: Yusuf Corker- S: Rangy, athletic developmental safety with some great measurables to go along with some nice playmaking ability. The Jets are going to continue to develop Davis/Nas/Pinnock at safety. And JD should bring in a FA starter. Riley is a RFA and can add depth and/or competition if they want. The creme will rise to the top. Maybe Nas ends up being more of a LB like Sherwood, I don't know. He seems to be a better safety.

In this draft I really went after favorites of mine who I also felt would fit what the Jets need. I went after a top tier pass rusher then went heavy on offense, making sure I solidified the o-line, addressed the TE position and added at least one WR in the first 3 rounds. Like I said- JD should still look to add a WR in FA.

The Walker pick in Rd. 2 was really a wild card. He just fell to me and I felt like I could not pass on his play-making ability. While its clear the Jets need help on Defense, I'm doing everything I can to help Z. Wilson take a leap next year. The back end of the draft adds much needed depth to the defense- especially when you consider some of our current FAs.

Looking at the roster without the potential FAs, this draft might add 4 starters/immediate contributors. Weakness would still be LB and S (depending on FA0 but Pass Rush should improve and our offense should have the potential to be explosive in the run and pass game. Especially if JD adds a proven outside WR in FA.

Offense:

QB: ZW/FA

RB: Carter/Walker/Ty J.

FB: Nick Bawden

TE: Trey McBride/FA

WR 'Z': Corey Davis/FA

WR 'X': FA/Alec Pierce/Mims? FA 2?

WR 'Y': Moore/Berrios (just assuming we bring him back- lol)

LT: Fant/Becton/Ekwonu

LG: AVT/McGovern/FA?

OC: McGovern/Lindstrom

RT: Becton/Fant/Ekwonu

RG: Ekwonu/McGovern/FA?

Defense:

Strong Side DE: JFM/Karl/FA?

Weak Side DE: Lawson/Huff/FA?

3-Tech: QW/JFM/Marshall

1-Tech: Wyatt/QW/Marshall

*Even with the departure of Fat, Shepherd, Phillips and Rankins, playing around with the rotation of this D-line would be fun. You can keep JFM as your strong side DE and bring in Karl. on passing downs or you can move him inside to the 3 and have QW play the 1 bringing in Karl. to play across from Lawson- this really puts your best pass rush on the field. Wyatt would be the rotation player. Just depends on if you want to focus on stuffing the run or getting after the QB. Also, would depend on who is fresh, these guys are versatile enough to do a little bit of everything. Maybe Wyatt stays on early downs.

Mike: Mosley/FA

Sam: FA/Q.Williams

Will: Sherwood/Domann/Nas?

FS: FA/Pinnock/Davis/Corker/Riley?/Parks?

SS: Davis/Corker/Pinnock/Davis/Corker/Riley?/Parks?

I did a trades and took whoever I think is best available….   Jets are a playoff team next season with this draft lol

I took trade backs and used all the capital and seconds to trade back in to 4 late round 1sts.

JD signed a #1 WR and resigned Morgan Moses (culture move and a solid RT) and the doctor in my world.   We’ve got depth at T and need it on the interior.

The only position I wanted to address but don’t feel great about is Safety.

Last but not least I took Fats' little brother @ LB... they'll match the Williams brothers (DL & LB) that is if they resign Fats... maybe this would be some incentive.. ?
