He missed most of his junior year due to a leg injury, and COVID-19 knocked him out for a month midway through his senior season. Hoge has noticeable core strength to forklift or redirect defenders away from the lane. He isn’t a substandard athlete, but he doesn’t play under control as a pass blocker, leaving his feet and upper half on two different pages. His reaction technique must improve if he wants to hold up vs. NFL defenders. Overall, Hoge is a powerful interior blocker capable of creating movement, but his disorganized play style leaves him off-balanced in his pass sets or on the ground in the run game. Put it on display.Anyone who has experience playing center should not be allowed to leave the complex. We have a little depth at the center position. Seems to have always had the talent just for whatever reason never got to fullyPut it on display.

Notre Dame seems to be a good spot for offensive lineman. Is it concerning he couldn’t crack their lineup?

Can't remember the guys name but I read an article about this yesterday, Guy he couldn't beat out at ND is in the NFL now, so that might have had something to do with it.  

Maybe one of the ND guys on here knows his name.  Not a star, but in the NFL

Sounds like a practice squad guy that may be able to contribute in a couple of years.  For now, at least, Dan Feeney is our back up center.

I’m not sure what system LAC ran, and I know he wasn’t rated well by PFF. However coming out of college the pre-draft scouting reports stated he was best suited for zone blocking scheme

He played right guard at BYU and was having a great season until he got COVID. Maybe he can be a sleeper pick for RG towards the end of season and beyond.

His issue has been staying healthy... if he can manage that, he may have a good shot.

Unfortunately you're 100% right.  We can roll with McGovern and Feeney for 2021.  It's not ideal but the Jets don't really have a choice.  You can just tell the Center position is something climbing the list though for a future Draft, maybe even as early as 2022.

Think you answered your own question. ND is by far the best OL producing school right now. No shame in not being able to crack their starting 5.

I like the FA OLinemen that we signed. 

Hoge and Saltes, in particular, look like they have a chance to stick at the bottom of the 53 or on the PS.

Talented guys who could contribute after some polishing up.
