If given the choice- and I had to pick one or the other. I’d keep the uniform ( minus the ugly ass black one) and the white helmet. If really given a choice and not one or the other.I’d go back to the old one but with this shade of green - but never use the green pants.

Plenty of other teams have printing across the chest of the jersey.  By removing the NY from the helmet and moving it to the jersey front it cleans up the helmet and adds interest where many other teams have put it.  

And in the big picture, compared to some of these fugly Nike designs, the Jets did good.  Very simple, nod to the 80's design, shoulder stripes are wings or a fuselage conveying flight.

I don’t understand why you’ve chosen this issue to argue with everyone. I personally don’t like the redo and didn’t from the start. You telling me they’re good isn’t going to change my perspective.

I didn’t like the football before. I had actually hoped they would get rid of it with the new uniforms. It’s more prominent now. So a huge swing and a miss as far as what I wanted to see on the redo. And the 80’s uniforms you keep telling everyone these are exactly the same as? No football on the helmet, so maybe not 50 consecutive years of football on the helmet.

And no lettering on those exactly the same 80’s uniforms either. The lettering for the other teams is bad to awful - just because other teams do it doesn’t mean it’s a good idea. None of the classic NFL jerseys are in your post, they’re all bad modern ones folks will make fun of in 20 years. 

And beyond that, Jets’ lettering is easily the second most prominent behind the absolutely horrific Falcons jerseys. Absolutely no subtlety - which is what all good NFL jerseys have in common. Clean, simple. Not gigantic NEW YORK across the chest and extra reminders of what sport they’re playing on a piece of equipment that’s a clear indicator of the sport they’re playing.

Pretty much. The Falcons rebrand was a disaster. If the Jets were to remove the amateur hour New York across the chest and make the stripes traditional football stripes the uniform would be fine and you could even live with the pointless black addition.

The essence of the 80s uniform is what everyone was clamoring for, not a full-on throwback.  Team ownership decided to get rid of the oval, relocate the NY, and move on.  It's not that big a deal.  The shifting metallic green gradient and color depth is one of the tops in the league.

And the essence of the 80s helmet logo lives on-  the angled shoulder stripes are right off the tail of the "J" from the old helmet logo.

So Nike took the tip of the "J" from the old helmet logo, turned it into a pair of wings (or fuselage, or contrail) and put it across the front of the jersey.  And they still complain?

You’re putting individual people in a bucket with what you’ve decided all other fans wanted, despite it not being what you wanted. I wanted a simple redesign with no football in the logo and no no noise like gigantic lettering in the jersey. So despite what you *think* I wanted, this isn’t it, or close. And you assuming what I wanted and then telling me this is it is absurd...I don’t know how you possibly think you could know.

Yeah you tried the other sport thing last time you picked an argument with me on this. It’s extraordinarily common in all those sports. This isn’t baseball, basketball, or hockey, and half of those logos aren’t part of the team’s uniforms. 
Now do all the football teams with footballs in their logos that go on the helmets. I imagine, like last time, you won’t have a response.

So you're saying that something the Jets have been doing uniquely for 50 years is bad because we didn't copy everyone else?

The origin of the Jets logo is that we were a struggling AFL franchise in a huge city with too many sports teams in a sport that wasn't exceptionally popular.

The logo says "New York Jets Football".  There's an NY.  There's the word "Jets".  And there's a football.

The wordmark "Jets" and the little football is our logo.  Always has been, except for the span when we went full boring in the 80's.

This one is the hardest to understand, every sport has team names on their uniforms.  Baseball, Hockey, Basketball.

I became a fan of the team in 1968.  Frankly I like the current design. Once we start winning this design will be associated with winning.  To me the classic Patriots uniform (red white and blue with the colonial patriot hiking the ball) was a great uniform but I associate the current Patriot design with winning.

No, I’m not. You, like always, are changing the argument to deflect from the question I asked you. Putting equipment in the logos is common in other sports. Not in football. And as I pointed out when I added to the post, the majority of those logos aren’t part of the uniforms those teams wear.

Also, something a team has done for 50 years *except almost 20 years in the middle* isn’t actually something that a team has done for almost 50 years.

If the Washington Football Team doesn’t change their name and decides to put a football on their new helmet, that would make sense to *me*. *My* opinion is that the Jets are not the New York Footballs, and I personally am not a fan of putting a football instead of something related to the team’s name on a piece of equipment exclusively used for that sport. Regardless of whether they’ve done it for 50 years with an almost 20 year gap.

I thought they had an opportunity to do something creative with the team’s name as a part of their base logo and the name. They didn’t. They put wings facing each other instead of outward on the jerseys. You posting pictures of the other sports logos, old Jets logos, and the wings won’t change *my* perspective that the redesign is not what *I* wanted to see as a fan. You think they did a great job. That’s wonderful. Enjoy the uniforms.

I can see both sides of the argument .

Having a jet as part of a logo makes sense the problem arises when you try to do it graphically with some sense of design that doesn't look cheezy.

Personally, I liked the green that was used prior to the current green ... it was more military green ....but I know I'm minority. It just seemed more Smash Mouth.

The stripes are straight out of the early 2000’s template and looked dated the second the Jets introduced the jersey. Denver went with them back in 97 and then a ton of college teams followed it. The traditional stripes like Wilson had at BYU are timeless.

I forgot one.  The Bears actually have 2 footballs on their helmet.  The outer "C" and the inner "c" are both footballs, the one on the inside is even in simulated motion.

So that's 8 teams, or a quarter of the league, that have something very hokey and related directly to the sport of football on their helmets or jerseys or coaches gear.

Should I add the other ones that must be nonsensical to you?  Like a star on the Cowboys helmet?  Who needs that?  Bengal stripes?  A literal Jaguar head?  A full sized Buffalo?   A full sized Lion? 

And what about the pretend Vikings and Rams with horns, literally, coming out of their brains?
