Travis Etienne WR?

seems like they're trying to justify their pick after it took a ton of heat for being one of the worst picks in the first round since they did not need a RB but have needs almost everywhere else.

I'm not sure NFL football teams operate that way. They must believe.

He's a great and natural ball-catcher who can line up anywhere on the field just about.  He provides a metric ton of flexibility to their offense, and again, their new franchise QB loves him and throwing passes to him.

Who wouldn't want one of those for their offense?

Or Urban Meyer  will be a disaster?

C'mon its not like he is giving a has been former QB in his 30s an opportunity a tryout at TE instead of some young guy who actually plays TE risking losing his team because they see that "Who you know" is far more important to the HC than actual talent and experience.

It's weird. I guess they want him to get more experience running routes that don't originate in the backfield. Having said that how hard is it to play RB if you have athletic ability? Run through the correct hole. Hop step. Sell the fake hand off. Follow your blocks. Don't fumble. OK, I'm ready to play RB aside from the physical traits required.

at this moment are you happy to have Wilson/Salah/Mike Lafleur or would rather have Lawrence/Meyer/Bevell/Tebow distraction?

But when we were 0-12 some in the media were clamoring “Trevor Lawrence should avoid the Jets at all costs”. No one talked about the fact that Jax (Hartford CT of the south) has been just as inept/worse than NYJ have been.

Still can’t get over that. Literally nobody said anything about tlaw spurning the jags. Never seen a bias that obvious (in sports)

I dunno.

In terms of value, the prospect quality vs. where he was picked, I think I like Elijah Moore at 34 more than Etienne at 25.

With that said, if the longterm plan by Meyer is to develop better wide receiver skills in Etienne and get him a ton of reps there in 2021, but still be able to rotate him with James Robinson at RB then this could make some sense.  Who know, Robinson could eventually move on or be traded and then you'd have a Travis Etienne that has an exceptionally developed pass-catching capability with the benefit of less wear and tear from the RB position his first year or two.  It's also obvious that the Jags like Robinson and they likely want to find a way to have both of these guys on the field at the same time.

I guess it still seems odd, but the NFL continues to morph with some of this position-less stuff.  Moreso on defense, but also at the skill positions.  Samuel and Aiyuk being used in a variety of ways in SF, and just wait until we see Atlanta lining up Kyle Pitts at the X and Z wide receiver spots at times this year. ?

I'm not the biggest fan of Etienne - too straight line-ish and lacking in cutting ability for my tastes - but playing him at WR just seems odd to me. You picked the guy in the first round, play him at his natural position.

Florida is close to home and perceived as a better culture fit for corn-porn Trevor Lawrence. He also had an interview during the 2020 season where he admitted preferred playing where it is warm and in a smaller market. Lastly -- and probably most importantly -- I'm sure his fiancee would like to keep him away from the models and the bottles of Manhattan.

Dumbest pick of the draft! What a waste of resources drafting Etienne when they had a ROOKIE James Robinson go off for 1400 total yards including 49 receptions. Worked out well for us tho cause the right pick for them shoulda been our boy Elija Moore if they were looking for that playmaker
