PFF edge rusher '21 rankings

Recommended Posts

I'll save you all the click. Bum, bum, yadda yadda, bum, can, then, our boy:

18. CARL LAWSON, NEW YORK JETS

Since entering the league in 2017, Lawson’s pass-rush grade on true pass-rush sets ranks in the 96th percentile among all edge defenders — firmly in elite territory. Injuries and inconsistent play limited his opportunities to begin his career, but he finished the 2020 season with a career-high 723 defensive snaps and 84.9 pass-rushing grade. The arrow is pointing up. Lawson could become the most impactful edge rusher that the Jets have had on defense in the past decade.

And only other worth mentioning:

25. MELVIN INGRAM III, FREE AGENT

Ingram is the most impactful free agent edge rusher still on the market following several seasons limited by injury in Los Angeles. Don’t be fooled by the goose egg in the sack column last season, though. Ingram still put up pass-rushing grades above 75.0 in each of the past two years and has plenty to offer teams as a pass-rusher. Teams such as the Miami Dolphins and Kansas City Chiefs — neither of whom have representatives on this list — should have interest.

Very surprised he's still on the market.  He probably needs to come down on his price and isn't willing.

Yea. 14 sacks in the last three years. On the downside of his career. He needs to accept that reality.

Give him an incentive laden deal. If you can’t make $12m with the DLmen we have then your career is over. $100k/sack and games played bonus.

That's a little misleading. He has 0 Sacks last year. The previous 5 seasons he averaged 8.5. The previous 2 years he had 7 in each year. The way you're putting it would leave you to believe that he hasn't done anything in 3 years which is far from accurate. In fact he was a Pro Bowl player the 3 years prior to last year (2017-2019). This is not a guy on the downside of his career. Injuries are a bigger concern than production. Only 20 games played the past 2 seasons. 7 in 2020.

Going into his 10th season. Undersized. A risk, not worth taking if his asking price is too high.

Lol, undersized? He didn't shrink since 2019 when he was a Pro Bowl player.

You like to read into what i said, and find something you can argue about. At 6'2" 245 lbs, he's  undersized . He's been a really good pass rusher, but playing at that size for 9 years, there's a possibility the pounding has taken it's toll. That seems to be the feeling around the NFL. If it wasn't, he probably would have been one of the first pass rushers signed.
