Jacksonville Jaguars executive Karim Kassam, who joined team in February, out of job

Recommended Posts

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Jaguars senior vice president of football operations and strategy Karim Kassam is no longer with the franchise.

"Karim and the team have come to the conclusion that it is in our mutual best interest to move in different directions. We wish Karim nothing but the best," Tony Khan, the Jaguars' chief football strategy officer, said.

The reason that Kassam is no longer with the team was not immediately known. Kassam was hired Feb. 19 to oversee the team's football technology and analytics department in addition to salary-cap administration while working with head coach Urban Meyer and general manager Trent Baalke.

Kassam is the second person hired earlier this year by the new regime to leave the franchise. Chris Doyle resigned as director of sports performance a day after his hiring was announced after there was immense backlash over the move. Doyle had reached a separation agreement last summer with Iowa after he was accused of making racist remarks and belittling and bullying players while the program's strength and conditioning coordinator.

Kassam came to the Jaguars after serving as the director of baseball research with the Minnesota Twins. He spent the previous five years as the Pittsburgh Steelers' analytics and football research coordinator.

Remember when people were hoping the Jets wouldn't get the # 1 pick so Lawrence could go to a stable org?

Yeah, about that....

The Jets are about as stable as a leaky foundation, but there are a couple of bodies in the basement that are worthy of mention. Oh, hi, it's Mark Brunell.

There is a high probability that Trent Baalke had something to do with this. The man has a history of forcing people out of their roles.

Trent Baalke, meat Adam Gase.

You're gonna love each other.

Jacksonville has always been a disaster but only now the national media will give them some spotlight because of T-Law and Urban Meyer. Still, if this type of wacky sh*t was going on at Florham park and the Jets had Trevor you can guarantee ESPN would have a headline “is it to late for Trevor Lawrence to request a trade”

I remember in 2017 Jax had an absolutely stacked roster; a SB contending one too.

But not anymore...

What a CRAP front office they've got.

(Poor Trevor).

Then they hired Coughlin, a move everyone here applauded and wondered when we would do something similar.

Didnt quite work out for Coughlin and the downward spiral began

Can you imagine if Lawrence isnt a huge hit in Jax?

Wait a second, they have Tebow to fall back on

I absolutely love Trevor Lawrence as a QB prospect; but I'm hoping he turns into the biggest bust in NFL history in order to make myself feel better about missing out on him.

We were what we where.  And we never were a 0 win team, which it would have taken to get Lawrence. I told @Mogglezthat over and over again.  Kept saying we're going to win one, its hard and rare to have a 0 win year.  The players dont want to wind up without a win.  So what are you supposed to do or cry about.  Its like I cant cry that ny Knicks didnt get Zion.

I will say this.

Jets adding the likes of Corey Davis, Keenan Cole, Vera-Tucker, Elijah Moore and Michael Carter around Zach Wilson (after drafting Becton/Mims last year)...

Is 10x better than what Jax has added around Trevor Lawrence.

At this point the Jets are not the NFL’s worst organization.  They are ascending, and the Jaguars, Texans and Lions are first up.  I think those three times will be competing for the worst record next year.

I think the Raiders will be back there again this year too.

Comparing us to the  Jaguars??  Wow, we have gotten bad.  we can’t even compare to the Browns anymore.  Think about it... taking pride in being better than the worst franchise in the NFL likenits an accomplishment.   Let’s win a few games......

Interesting thing about all the weirdness that is going on in Jax is, I just read that ALL their players showed up for OTA's except one, Chark I think it is, his wife just had a baby.

They most certainly drafted themselves a great one and an awesome leader...

I'm A+ excited for Zach Wilson but man did Jax strike gold with Lawrence.

They also fired Idzik early on after Meyer was hired. He’d worked for years as a cap specialist and in player development after we fired him under Caldwell who was fired last year. (Caldwell now with the Eagles).

That pic in your avatar. Andy Bathgate?  What's the significance.  Go Rangers!!!

I just caught a clip of Urban Meyer doing a cameo on a wrestling show last night. 2 wrestlers burst into his office while fighting. This is the type of garbage that destroys a franchise. Jax is now the laughing stock of the NFL, congratulations! And the Jets are on the rise! I just hope we don’t piss it all away.
