It seems to me JD has done a great job acquiring folks that are fitting the new D and Shanahan O we will be using.

I am very impressed (especially on Offense) of how the skills have great YAC skills and the OL appear to have the mobility needed in this scheme.

What players do you think on both sides of ball really are the best fits scheme wise?

Thanks in advance for XsOs input.

Not sure if he fits RS D but Joe D was w/Eagles when he was drafted.  Another S/LB hybrid

49ers waive former Eagles LB Nathan Gerry

The San Francisco 49ers waived linebacker Nathan Gerry on Tuesday, parting with one of the more experienced backups along their front seven, Marc Delucchi of USA Today's Niners Wire reports.

The 49ers signed Gerry earlier this offseason as a free agent, but have decided to head in a different direction prior to the start of the preseason. Granted, Gerry could easily be re-signed if the team’s linebacking depth is tested.

Gerry was selected in the fifth round of the 2017 NFL draft by the Philadelphia Eagles, where he spent the first five seasons of his career.

Over his career, Gerry has appeared in 46 games (22 starts) and recorded 163 tackles, 10 passes defended, eight tackles for loss, 3.5 sacks, and three interceptions.

The Philadelphia Eagles made an unconventional pick in the fifth round of the 2017 NFL Draft when they selected Nebraska safety Nathan Gerry and instantly announced their plans to convert him to linebacker. Take a look at some more analysis of the pick.

In terms of production grades at the safety position in 2016, LSU’s Jamal Adams was PFF’s top safety. It may surprise that second on that list was the unheralded Nebraska safety, Nathan Gerry, who collected four interceptions and six more pass breakups. What’s even more impressive, though, is that he allowed only one completion of 20-plus yards into his coverage all season long. That reliability on the back end has considerable value in the NFL.
