I Will Not Be Watching the All-Star Game Due To Georgia Wokeness

Ironic that the All-Star game moving to another city, and not voter suppression laws for the state in question, are what "kill liberty" in your mind.  😉

Still 💗 you though.

Compare Georgia with Joe Biden's Delaware. Georgia is easier by a mile. 70% of Democrats polled believe there should be voter ID enforcement and doing away with Ballot Harvesting. The fear is real for the Orange Bad Man

Too bad “Sports doesn’t stick to Sports”

"Yes, sports I like but are played by roughly 70+ % black athletes/athletes of color, only entertain me and never talk about things that might cause me to feel discomfort.  Instead, shut up and play and only demonstrate excessive and lavish patriotism like the good old days, because those are the only politics I support in sports."

No discomfort… sadness would better describe what’s happening to sports. I loved watching Willis (got his autograph) Clyde, Earl. My namesake EBoozer, Brick, Freeman etc. These guys were my heroes. They dealt with racism throughout their career and yet were adored by millions from every race, creed & color. Sports is what broke down those barriers where I only saw a uniform.
Today we face a much larger problem…. Identity politics. Us against them mentality and there is a growing storm ready to rip this nation of mixed heritage to the core. My old church in NYC had people from over 103 nations. We were different in every way but the main thread of love and kindness was the realization we are all children of God.

We’re both idealists.  But just because your church had racial harmony doesn’t mean the “us vs them” mentality hasn’t always existed or that it’s somehow gotten worse.  It’s just gotten more easily exposed of late.

And just putting your head in the sand and ignoring it, or bemoaning the loss of “simpler times”, won’t fix it.  Things usually have to get messy before they can get better.  Escapism in sports may have worked for you but it assuredly doesn’t work for everyone.

The only reason I watched the All-Star game was because of the decision to move it from Georgia to Colorado.  Otherwise, who the **** watches the All-Star game?

It must be so freeing to not have think for yourself or be burdened with having to do research.

It's freeing to choose to do research on things you care about.  There are more important things than where an all-star game is played.  Some people choose some strange hills to die on, it seems.

Yes, if only we could all go back to that time and place when racial harmony existed and matters of social contestation were handled with class and dignity: 1970’s New York.

It seems to be something that is trending. You figure that the Latino population is growing at the fastest pace within the country. Baseball is also one of their favorite sports.... yet TV ratings for a politicised All-Star game are at an all-time low.... coincidence?

No, IMO the problem we face is an older generation of mostly white, mostly male, mostly lesser-educated racists (sexists, homophobes, haters of "the other" basically) who are all sorts of broken up and in de facto social rebellion because their massive social and economic power advantage is starting to slip away as society and demographics evolve.

No longer can these folks so easily or so proudly go around making Ni**er jokes and calling people Fa**ots or telling women to 'Get back in the Kitchen, B*tch", with the old well-worn chuckle and smug knowing wink as they'd always done.

Sometimes they are actually held to account for their behavior.  Not always, not even in the majority.  But sometimes.

Sadly, very few of them have shown any interest in actually understanding why their behavior is considered a problem nowadays.  But no worries, society is an ever-changing, ever-evolving thing, and these folks will simply be left behind in the dustbin of history as time marches on.

P.S. The Home Run Derby was great.  Sorry you missed it.

In fact, the ratings for the MLB All-Star Game have been in a near-constant-decline for the past 45+ years.

This year's drop is in-line with the long-term-trending (i.e. decline) in MLB ASG viewership.

Wow...... Interesting take. It reads  "angry" but I'm sure that wasn't the intention.

While the highlighted is painting every white person with an extremely broad brush, I think that's what some within this movement want.

Why would a person of color making more money or moving into the suberbs bother me? If a person can afford the house and maintains it it does not negatively impact me..... and why is it those who scream the loudent for social justice playing for the Lakers, Nets, etc. all live in predominately white super upper-class towns?

"....broken up and in de facto social rebellion because their massive social and economic power advantage is starting to slip away as society and demographics evolve".

The only thing that bothers me is the hypocrisy of not holding the democratically elected officials to account for the sub-standard opportunities in these urban areas where families endure crime ridden streets, shootings on a nightly basis and little opportunity to get ahead. The accusing finger is always points outward. There are black conservatives that ran in Baltimore, Chicago and other areas who made their campaign platforms about opportunity. Yet the socialist candidate wins 90% of the vote over & over & over. What's the excuse for these politicians?

What's the saying?

“The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again, but expecting different results.”

I would never argue that either political party are doing a good job of this.  Neither political party is ever actually looking out for people of color.  It's all just lip service to win votes.  Nothing more, nothing less.

It's the main reason I try not to ever get too "hyped" during a political conversation.  It's all basically just bullsh*t.

I do know one person who's policies increased minority pay and opportunities and it's why his percentage of black and especially hispanic voters was well above any other republican candidate. Conservative policies are winning over disgruntled black & hispanic voters. There's a reason Cuban and Venezuelan voters have rejected socialist agendas.

On a side note.... are you going to the Titans game. It would be nice to meet you in person. I'll be the angry, uneducated white guy! :)

Duping voters and painting the other side as socialist/the next Fidel Castro is not the same as actually looking out for people.  Just saying.

Unfortunately not going to be able to make the trip!  I was hoping to make the Panthers game (I live in NC) but with it being the Carolina home opener its gonna be too expensive a ticket for me at this time.

Maybe next time!

Very similar to harvesting votes and painting the other side as racists/ the next Hitler? Just saying.

We all need to do better..... the problem is the vitriol is at a high level. I would be angry if I lived in Baltimore, Chicago and a hundred other urban areas. I'm upset at government living in a rural community in PA. The only way it gets fixed is working together and unfortunately we have some in government who prefer the way things are.... Us vs. them can be profitable for some.
