It never ceases to amaze me how people are always happy to have a "tough negotiator" and act like it is a good thing and then the second some player doesn't agree to just bend over and take it, they turn on the player or blame the GM. There is a reason these are negotiations. If it starts hurting the team on the field get worried. IF it's mid-July?
