Ive tested positive 2x over 1 year apart with no symptoms at all either time. Only reason I was tested was because I was around someone else who tested positive, also with no symptoms. Never developed any symptoms either time

That's great! I just spoke with a friend who also had COVID, along with his wife and kids. They all had relatively mild symptoms. Many people are mildly inconvenienced or didn't even know that they had it. If it weren't for asymptomatic transmission of COVID, we probably wouldn't even be discussing it anymore.

People are stupid. Reich is asymptomatic because he’s vaccinated. And yet the anti-vax crowd will point to him getting “sick” and claim the vaccine does nothing, while others who don’t get vaccinated are still dying.

You do realize that there are tons of asymptomatic positive people who are unvaccinated as well right? I accounted for that twice. Your hard stance on one side of this argument is as damaging as the hard stance on opposite sides of the arguments. The problem is we are not allowed to have intelligent conversation about it, not meaning on this board, I mean in real life. Logic has left the building and has been replaced by emotion and poltiics, bad news.

Well there it is.  Calling people stupid for personal choices.  And at least state the facts.  Right on the front page of NJ.com it will tell you 49 people who were fully vaccinated in NJ alone have passed due to Corona Virus.  We should be able to discuss Covid and how it affects the NFL and the NY Jets but to start your post with "people are stupid" is why these threads get locked.  Keep your personal feelings to yourself and just discuss Covid and how it relates to the NFL.

Boom, very well stated

A. it's not 100% nor has anyone ever said it was 100%,

B. for vaccines to truly work on the macro scale, a large % of the population has to get them, and

C. when we don't reach that goal, you get more and more virulent variant forms, faster, as it works through the unvaccinated population and mutates, which ultimately can/will diminish the effectiveness of the existing vaccine(s) putting the vaccinated at more risk again of the most severe symptoms.

Ah the old inconvenient truth.

So what is the league going to do about IND with this story?

https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/colts-coach-frank-reich-will-miss-start-of-training-camp-after-testing-positive-for-covid-19/

Kind of hurts the narrative doesn't it

Not at all. The narrative has been getting enough people vaccinated to create "herd immunity." The CDC has been clear that there are three "Authorized and Recommended Vaccines." Two of them are 90% effective against COVID infection and one is 66% effective against COVID infection. The narrative has also been that vaccinated people suffer from less severe symptoms and have fewer hospitalizations.

With the knowledge that the three vaccines are less than 100% effective plus the segment of the population who haven't received their vaccination, it follows that some vaccinated people will infected.

Hate to say it but it isnt a segment of the population thats turned it political, its our entirely population has turned it political, on both sides. And the people are who suffer for it.

Your B and C aren't so clear for this particular vaccine, much like the flu vaccine. its not clear how long the covid vaccine protects for, for which variants it protects against, and there are many other factors. If 100% of the population got vaccinated for the flu, it would not go away.

Generalized statements like you make are every bit as dangerous as the opposite stance.

I know vaccinated people who were, in fact.  They survived, no hospital, no death.

The vaccine is primarily a deterrent for infection (you get it materially less than unvaccinated) and a deterrent for the most severe symptoms (if you're vaccinated, and you get it, you're vastly less likely to need to be hospitalized or to die).

Before the mods lock this thread, we should have protocols on whether and how to discuss this issue, but it is inexorably intertwined with NFL football this season.     When player X has a hard time picking up the playbook and is unable to attend certain meetings because he is unvaccinated, it has football implications. When a player is unable to play a game because of a positive tests and can't clear protocols, vaccination status may  be relevant. When the Jets or another team have. to play a game missing numerous starters or, worse yet, forfeit a game, vaccination status is not only relevant, but front and center regardless of how you feel about vaccinations.  It is now a part of the game and banning discussion of the issue is just silly.

Wow touched a nerve.  I'm not a political partisan so I just look at the facts and I think the president saying that vaccines are 100 percent effective is a big problem and backed up my post.....there was lots of people touting the vaccine as being 100 percent effective till the break through cases but I'm not gonna waste my time finding them because you've already exposed yourself as a rank partisan and unable to have an adult conversation.

So.... Screw everybody else I don't wanna get poked I'm scared?  Who cares about the kids who aren't old enough to get the shot and as you create more variants we start getting to ones more likely to effect kids or those who got immunized earlier.  "I'm SPECIAL."  Is that it?  Cuz that is the only thing I'm seeing in your words.  It's not like 99% of the people dying now are unvaccinated or anything. And stewing a witches brew of variants to continue releasing as they die off.  Nice.  Way to be a good human.  I prefer having a sore shoulder for a couple days a bit of an ache and know I'm not continuing a pandemic for cred.

Just curious, but how does a grown man act that a grown woman doesn't?

And what do you mean by "feminized" exactly?

For example, how are we "feminized" when it comes to COVID?

Nice.  Unable to counter an argument, shift into tough guy.  Unsurprising.  Did you jump on the Viagra train when it hit the market or did you wait for extensive testing first?

Right. But how the NFL handles asymptomatic positives is what’s going to make this season trickier than last. A lot of gray area now and the NFL seems to be doing the seat of their pants thing.

Because the last big pandemic was in 1918.  Don't think the Canton Bulldogs could do it any better.

HA! You can whine about being scared to get a shot or 2 and help save lives but you want to be a "Maverick" instead.  How about this.  Instead of just letting figures and numbers be the people who died, why not list all the people who you know, friends and family, who you are perfectly cool with them dying of Covid, because, "Maverick".  Make it a big list because lots of people have died so far.

I mean with the restrictions being totally lifted elsewhere the NFL continuing to test vaccinated players and coaches who show no symptoms seems to defeat the purpose.

wow, nice one. Im not worried about it one bit, because the people who i care about are vaccinated. For all you know, I may be too, this isnt about my vaccine status. I will tell you this, I got an email last night asking if I wanted to be a part of the long term effects study and asking if I am willing to participate for $200. Take that for what its worth. But please note that the fact that they are doing this study should tell you something, try to take your emo down a notch bud
