Training camp 8/2 - practice updates

One thing I will say: Have we ever had a receiver flash as much as Moore has? I mean it seems to be a common theme that he is not just playing well but looking like the best player on the field.

You weren’t there… all the beat writers have him as uneven. It’s not a big deal that he isn’t lighting it up everyday it’s acceptable for him to not impress in his third practice of his pro career.

He’s going to get burned no doubt, but you can tell they aren’t giving him anything too difficult yet.   It’s a lot of 2 read hi-low or even low-high in some cases.   
 

I believe on that play to Moore they took away the flat and forced Zach to look downfield.

Well, most QBs could not even make the throw to Moore so it wouldn't be an option. It has been well documented that Zach throws not with his arm but with upper body toque to the point his feet can be completely off the ground and he will make throws. I mean it's not going to change and by every measure he is pretty much insanely accurate so really who cares? And some think his footwork is exceptional by the way. We all know you wanted Fields.

It will be interesting to see if the o-line looks better once the pads go on tomorrow.  I suspect they will since it’s harder on the o-line when the pads are off.

This is the 4th report saying that he was “eh” today and that it was anything but great.  He had a, mostly, bad practice.  Who knows if it was an install day, unless it’s said by the coaches.  Just like you have no idea if Trevor or Sam’s practices were install days.  I just find it funny that when Trevor, Fields, or Sam have a bad practice this place laughs their socks off while simultaneously looking to spin every negative into a positive for a bad Zach day.

He looked like a rookie, not a big deal.   Everyday is install day at this point in camp.

Dude. Com'e on.  lol  Every QB in the NFL can make that throw.  Anywho, there is no reason to go to this length to defend him.  I didnt even knock him, I asked a question.  And stop acting like I'm making this about who I wanted.   I've literally not brought up that players name once, since draft day.  Not once.  It's this legion of posters who want to pin me as a Zach hater and Fields lover who continue to bring him up.

I'm ride or die with Zachkapono because he's the QB of my favorite Football team.  So as a fan curious about what's going on in camp and interested in Zach's development, I simply asked a poster who I respect, that was at practice, his observations that were/are a concern for many of us.  Nothing more, nothing less.  I even said in my post, maybe the coaching staff doesnt want to mess with those aspects of his game because that's what makes him unique but wanted someone's opinion that was there to see it first hand.

It looked it.  He looked like he wanted to go to the flats but readjusted.  Which would be why he was a bit out of whack and understandable why he was a bit late and his feet were pointing toward the sidelines.  It was one play, it means nothing, was just curious if they were working on that stuff with him or not.  No doubt he is very fluid and that ball comes out hot from what I've seen thus far.

The interesting thing to me about all the "bad footwork" "off platform throws" nonsense is that is also what Darnold was supposed to be.  Usually teams go out of their way to make a different mistake and draft a completely different player.  I see a bunch of similarities between Darnold and Wilson as prospects.

The LBer came up to take away the RB, so the read is to throw where the vacated LBer came from, Moore running an in behind the LBer and in front of the safety.    Ideally you would like him to recognize the LBer taking the RB and get the ball out quicker to Moore.  All in due time.

100%.  That was what I found so ironic about the fawning over Wilson during the predraft stuff.  He does everything you hate about Darnold almost routinely.  That said, he looks to be a more fluid athlete with a stronger more accurate arm.  So maybe he can get away with it at the next level the way Sam could not and already, he's working with a 10x better cast of characters.
