Carl Lawson injury rationalization thread

Lawson going down with injury is awful /devastating / heart-wrenching no doubt. But it's not like Saleh hasn't faced a similar situation with SF and Botha going down with injury. San Francisco defense did it with no names. Time for Huff and Hamiclar Reshed to step up. It will be a huge hole to fill. What a devastating blow.

to be sure it's not getting knocked down but getting back up that counts.  we will see very quickly how well this team will be able to adapt to losing one of its better players.  as others have said, it's not like he was a sack specialist but he might have been the guy that makes the defense very good from good and that counts too.

To me, this feels like I ordered an expensive but slightly used 1 of a kind sports car and found out it got totaled in transit. Was so looking forward to drive it but it’s not going to happen………

wish him the best, still looking forward to the season opener.

Well said.

This is so sad for Lawson, who seems like a guy who loves ball and really was ready to have an elite season.

That being said, Hamilcar Reshed needs to look at the opportunity in front of him and hopefully capitalize.  This is a guy who was discussed as a second round pick after he had 14 sacks as a junior.  Hes thin, but likely ok to play a "leo" type role with the other talent on our DL at 6'2 255.

This also solidifies Huff's role on passing downs regardless of how Vinny Curry plays and also may give more reps to Fatuski if we keep JFM at DE.

1,000 years from now we’ll all be dust in the wind so in the end, it doesn’t even matter

It will matter to the 2121 NY Jets because they to will suffer yet another major injury and the SB winless streak will go on- be assured @joewilly12 will be keeping tabs ….1051 years and counting.

In an alternate universe the 1-15 Jets win their final game of the season thanks to a Lawson strip sack. This puts them at 2-15, one game ahead of the Texans who get the 1st pick in the draft.

With Lawson gone that no longer happens and the Jets get to pick 1st over all

time play GIF

In 1,000 years everyone will still remember that you were wrong about Jamal Adams’ impact on football games.

Leading the NFL in 3rd down stops is the definition of having an impact.   You fell for the trolling. It’s ok.

1,000 years from now when they thaw my head out and put it on a Griffin body I’ll still be right

I can do this all day.   ???

This was intended to be.

How do you counter your star player going down? With a guy no one even bothered to draft a year ago, but now has the opportunity to start & THRIVE in his natural 4-3 DE position like he did in college.

Bryce Huff will seize that opportunity.

Lawson will be Wally-pipped by Bryce Huff. That’s what I’m willing to accept. Lol.

Still got 17 games to play. Next guy up.
