JetNation
As you probably know by now, New York Jets defensive end Carl Lawson suffered a season-ending achilles injury during a joint practice with the Green Bay Packers yesterday which is a huge blow to the Jets defense. While the Jets aren’t going to be adding anyone of Lawson’s caliber if they look at the pool of remaining free agents, there are some a couple of names worth considering. Olivier Vernon: The 30-year-old Vernon spent last season with the Cleveland Browns where he picked up 9 sacks. He has experience as both a 4-3 defensive end and as a 3-4 outside linebacker. He would obviously play the former in Jeff Ulbrich’s scheme. You could do a lot worse at this point in time. Everson Griffen: Longer in the tooth than Vernon at 33-years-old, Griffen would bring another veteran presence who has had some success in getting to the quarterback. His six sacks last season which was split between the Lions and Cowboys came in 14 games. Vic Beasley: A former first-round pick, Beasley saw his production come crashing down to earth after tallying 15.5 sacks in his second pro season. After a 2019 season that saw him come away with 8 sacks, he didn’t get to the quarterback at all in 2020 while being limited to just 10 games. Of course the team could opt to stand pat and hope for the likes of Bryce Huff or Jabri Zuniga to pick up some of the slack. Popular Post Jetsfan4life90
I didn't even realize Olivier Vernon was still out there. At this point, he'd be a no brainer signing if he wants to come here.
AFJF
Vernon is the no brainer move for sure if they decide to bring somebody in.
Barkus
I doubt they bring any vet in at all. Can add Aldon Smith to the list though. More likely if they add anyone it will be a rookie who is cut or a practice squad pick up from another team.
Bungaman
Let the kids play. All those FA's still available are available for a reason. If we were one player away from going deep into the playoffs, yes - I'd say look under all rocks. At this point, this team is not - so see what the young cheaper guys can bring for this year and future years. If we find out they can't hack it, then we know it needs to be addressed next year in the draft or FA, really regardless of how Lawson's recovery goes. We need to develop experienced depth, even if the youngins turn out not to be blue chippers. But we'll never find out if they don't get to play.
Darnold's Forehead
Highly doubt they would bring in anyone. They are going with young corners, no reason to believe Saleh won’t run with the younger/less experienced linemen we have. Does anyone know where exactly JFM has been playing? Saw him inside a bit vs giants but has he been outside at all?

Vernon would be the person to try and get on a 1 year deal. Only issue, he is coming off his own achilles injury. This is most likely why he is still available. Jetpain
I'm more concerned about the offensive line than I am about the D line
sirlancemehlot
Team is more than 1 piece away from a playoff berth. Stick with what you've got. I really liked what I saw from Huff and Valoaga in the pass rush. Give some youngsters a chance.
Defense Wins Championships
I'd really love for Joe Douglass to take a flyer on... Everson Griffen: 2011: 4 sacks. 2012: 8 sacks. 2013: 5.5 sacks. 2014: 12.0 sacks. 2015: 10.5 sacks. 2016: 8 sacks. 2017: 13 sacks. 2018: 5.5 sacks. 2019: 8 sacks. 2020: 6 sacks. This guy has experience with Minnesota as a 4-3 RDE too (vs. opposing LTs).. 2015 = Pro Bowl. 2016 = Pro Bowl. 2017 = Pro Bowl. 2019 = Pro bowl. 4 of his 6 previous years = Pro Bowl and got robbed in 2014 of another one. jeremy2020
IK Enemkpali is a defensive end and is currently a free agent. He hits hard.
Greenseed4
Ezekiel Ansah was on the 49ers last year. Nobody knows that because he was injured early in the year (week2) with a torn bicept. Im sure Saleh is aware of this.
