That’s about the best you could hope for this late into the offseason and right before the mandated roster slashing and then the season starts.

He’s a solid run defender but not the pass rushing force they claimed he’d be coming out of Clemson. For a 6th, it’s a solid move in adding veteran depth.

Great move for a 6th round pick and no long term commitment should we choose to move on. When Carl is healthy next year the jets are going to "lay down the law off the edges".  Time to start drinking, and forget I just said that.

QB hits and QB pressures tell more of the story. Carl Lawson is a MUCH MUCH better pass rusher than Shaq Lawson and it's not close.  I do think it's a solid addition but if anybody thinks he'll be as productive as Carl Lawson they need their head examined. And if anybody agrees with some stooge on this site who has zero football knowledge you need to be committed. 

Shaq will be a part of a rotation with the other young Edge Rushers. He's not going to be an every down starter. Good depth piece added that will keep guys fresh.

I don't know anything about this guy.  But if he can contribute this year to help the defense at least be respectable you can't complain about using one of three 6th round picks next year even if we move on from him after the season.

It also gives us some flexibility for next year since he is under contract for '22.  No long term commitment, but we do have option to keep him if he plays well in this defense.

His cap hit with the Jets is $1.4 million for 2021.
