SIGN THIS BEAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

2019 was the year that brought all his efforts together: 19.5 tackles for loss, 52 total tackles, one interception, one forced fumble, and 13.5 sacks. Again, he was named First Team All-Mountain West, but he also was a Ted Hendricks Award finalist, a Chuck Bednarik Award semifinalist, plus was named Mountain West Conference Defensive Player-of-the-Year.

When his college career was completed, he had set the Mountain West Conference (MWC) record for career sacks with 34. He was also the only defensive player in college football to ever average 9.5 sacks or better during a three-year stint.

His toe fell off in Miami.

For real.

It's why he was released by Miami with an injury settlement his rookie year.

He may be a victim of the numbers game on the CLE defense but he clearly hasn't looked as good as the Browns hoped.

Appeared in all 3 preseason games this year, had several tackles and 1 QB hurry.  He's obviously in shape and on the field, and he made a few plays so he could certainly be worth a look IMO.

I remember the guys at PFF drooling over this kid.  Surprised to see he got dumped so fast.

He was drafted by the fish, they dropped him because he lost a toe, the Browns picked him up and dumped him now?

I wish @Defense Wins Championships could see that this is a perfectly effective statement without with 9 gifs, a bucket of unrelated stats, 3 shaming gifs, personal attacks, 9 paragraphs of word salad and  2 or 3 semi aggressive threatening pms.

You left out all the players he wanted because he's been following them since they were in HS

Wow. Can’t imagine being able cut without your big toe.

The Fins intended to waive/IR him but the Browns picked him up and held him until the season before IRing him. They’re stacked this year so dumping him makes sense. Also he’s less than a year removed from a really bad injury. Worth the flier for us, he put up really good flexibility numbers for an edge rusher. He might have value as he heals.

If the Jets are going to take a chance on a second year DE with upside who has an injury history I might prefer Weaver over Zuniga at this point.

The question is whether the Browns assessed that he'll never be back to 100% as a player (or even 90%) or if their decision to release him was a numbers problem.  Are the Browns simply too deep and don't want to wait another year if that's what they think it will take for Weaver to get more prepared?  He honestly seems like a PS guy at this point but some team will take him on their 53.  Given the Jets situation at DE it might not be a bad flyer to take.
