No doubt there were some conversations with Jamal Adams about doing this. Bless is a young guy and I think he should have been kept. The Jets are really all-in with Echols, Pinnock, etc. Giving Saleh and JD the benefit of the doubt here but this will be an interesting look-back in a year or two when we compare these players.

At least for this season until we see how the four young corners adjust to life as NFL players. Bless truly developed a professional attitude and a Brady-like fanaticism about caring for his body. It is a defining trait of a successful draftee. Some guys have a decent rookie campaign and never develop a professional outlook. I think we needed to see if the rookies could match him off the field before cutting ties entirely. I just think he is going to be around a long time. Not surprised he ended up on a roster instead of a practice squad. I am glad to see he has been added to a probable playoff team. He is Brooklyn born and went to school at New Jersey's Rutgers. I wish him well in Seattle.

I don't think it will matter in either case. The Jets are NOT planning on making Austin, Dunn, Echols or anyone else their starter for the next 10 years. All of those players fill a void for just the short term.

Popular Post Alentador31
Players don't develop on the bench. If the younger players have higher ceilings then you play them. That's how you develop players. We are not use to this.

They’re not throwing them into the fire to take up space, they’re out there to develop.

He probably dropped it because he has small hands; and you caught him running because he’s a 4.86 guy. 1

This is the right answer. Saleh tried him out as the CB2 in his Cover 3 scheme. He watched him all summer and felt it wasn’t going to work out. The Jets looked for a trade partner and couldn’t find one, and thus cut him so a valuable roster spot could go to someone else. This also means Saleh must be fairly optimistic/hopeful about the young/rookie DBs on the team. Bless is now going to be a CB4 or so for a scheme that utilizes a lot more M2M, on a team that should make the playoffs as long as Russ doesn’t get hurt. So it worked out pretty well for him as well. Teams with a competitive roster have to make tough cuts all the time. We’re just not used to this. Even in our most recent postseason seasons in ‘09-10, the bottom of the roster wasn’t very competitive because of the highly top-heavy nature of Tannenbaum’s rosters. 5 1

varjet
The cynical side of me sees the Jets cutting someone who may be better than the guys that JD drafted or gave big bonuses to. getting signed by the Seahawks does not confirm that-I thought they played a similar scheme
