He only played three games last year and had no touches in the pre-season, let's hope he's rusty. After that we have to exploit Darnold's biggest weakness which is pressure up the middle when he's passing. As all Jet fans know his worst games are when Darnold has pressure in his lap, his footwork/mechanics break down and he throws off his back foot. With one of CAR starting guards being ruled out: https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/32160800/carolina-panthers-rg-john-miller-covid-19-list-week-1 It's time to see Williams & Rankins go to work and see blitzing up the middle from Mosley QW, Rankins, Foley and Marshall need to get to work! Maynard13
We have to win this game for so many reasons. It's kind of a revenge game for the Jets for having to put up with 3 wasted years of Darnold. It's Zach's first game as a Jet and Saleh's as well. But it really will lay down a foundation of the season. It will show what this team is made of and how it's different from the last number of years under Bowles and Gase. It will feature a new look to the offense and defense and introduce an improved OLine and an upgraded WR corps. We'll get a really good idea of JD's influence as a GM as well. It's only the first game of the year BUT dont be fooled. This is the most important game of the year IMO. 1

Everyone expects the Panthers to win this game, including the Panthers themselves. You don't trade a 2 & a 4 for a QB just to lose to his former team with a rookie QB under center, making his NFL debut. But that's exactly what would make this a big opening W for this team. It would be a good statement W for sure.
Vin
Would be huge for Draft purposes but is that what we're rooting for here? More Draft capital? How about rooting for a win to start the season at 1-0?

How about rooting for a win to start the season at 1-0? Obviously we want to win as many games as possible, including the opener to start 1-0. But in the big picture, this is a 7-win roster at best. So, yes, when you're confident you're not going to make the playoffs, draft capital matters a lot too. We have a sh*t-ton of draft picks in 2022, and being able to pick as close to # 33 as possible with that Panther 2nd rounder is part of the consideration. Being able to beat Carolina and directly impact our pick slot would be a great way to start the season.
