Great example why I tend to ignore PFF Grades.

Mims was a ghost literally the entire game outside one catch.  A non-entity.

And he gets PFF's highest grade, over Davis at that?

And Wilson, the best player on the field on Offense, no where to be seen?

Thanks PFF, you're drunk, go home.

Eye Test:

Van Roten is a liability

McGovern is not good

CJ Mosley graded low but I thought he did well, he'll settle in - not worried

Bryce Hall is not a bust - we'll see how good he is thou

Zach Wilson > Darnold

McCaffrey > everything

Pass Rush is non-existent

If the other team stops our run game we are screwed

Bryce Hall was a 6th round pick.  If he was out of the NFL this morning he wouldn’t be a bust.  Bryce Hall is arguably the best pick Douglas has made so far.  He’s at minimum a serviceable player.  Could be quite good in the long run.

And on Mims's catch, he just jogged straight down the sideline and was not picked up by anyone.  I guess he gets credit for being "wide open," making "a catch," and some good "yards after catch"?  At best, a very small sample size for that rating.

Sure, play him more, whatever, but what's the criteria for a WR rating at PFF?

It's like QB rating though.  If you have your RB throw a pass, and he completes it for 20 yards, he gets a QB rating of 154, right?  Highest rated passer!

I think Mims was only on the field for a couple of plays.  So one big catch in a couple of snaps is a high rating...

He was a non-entity because he was only on the field for 3 snaps!

PFF can only grade whats put in front of them. I think youre a bit off on your criticism on this one.

I'm very surprised by CJ's PFF grade.  He looked pretty good to me as well.  Eyeballs vs. stats/data I guess.

Doesn't look like catching a TD pass rates that highly.

What’s interesting is that the players are aware of it.

Oh, of course they are. The vast majority of these guys are on social media and people send them stuff.

I have a friend who played very briefly in the NFL about 5 years ago. He told me that most of the guys he knew obsessed over this stuff and that most guys who say they don't pay attention are full of it. I always figured that was the case, but it was interesting to hear some (admittedly anecdotal) confirmation.

Good point.  I think you're right - Who's been better?

I like PFF when it confirms what I think I already know.

I hate PFF when it makes the player I like look bad. What the hell do they know?

I'm just not sure how they can grade with not knowing the players assignment.  How do you know who makes a mistake between an OL or RB in a blown protection, or which DB.... We think we know who but we don't really.

hmmm...with all those negatives how did they lose by 5 and had a chance in the 4th?  that must mean zach is something pretty special.

This is exactly why we shouldn't be too concerned with sloppy play.

Problem is the OL only had one Rookie....

oline only has one rookie but 4/5ths of those guys are learning a new system and they still haven't played a complete game together.  i'm hopeful they'll work things out in short order.

But that 4/5th was the same 4/5 starting OL from last year and it was the worst in the league.

I'll hope with you, but I wouldn't count on it.

even they largely turned their game around in the second half.  it takes time for an oline to get it together.  these guys were embarrassed and if saleh is the real deal he'll get them turned around pdq.
