It's often caused by a blow or a sudden change in direction when the leg is planted on the ground, such as during sports or dancing. The kneecap (patella) normally sits over the front of the knee. https://www.nhs.uk › conditions › di... Dislocated kneecap - NHS

BroadwayRay
Mahomes was out 2-3 weeks when it happend to him a couple of years ago, but then again he is super human.
Popular Post shuler82
He's lucky that he only strained his MCL. The concern with dislocating knee caps is that he'll be much more susceptible to reoccurrence. figure he'll be braced up moving forward. That said, Mahomes had a similar injury and somehow only missed two games. edit: I've had a lifelong issue with knee dislocations.. so while I'm not a 6'8 400 lb athlete, I'm not completely talking out my ass (on this topic at least) 4

Chrebetfan80
id say worst case 6-8 weeks to return.. best case 4-5 but thats extremely optimistic. depends alot on what else is going on in there (torn ligaments or bone damage from the dislocation). If its all clear and just needs to heal then things look better.
SR24
This could actually be good news. I’ve done this to both knees multiple times and the recovery is pretty quick. Granted I’m not 6’7 300+lbs but still I feared far worse seeing him on the cart 1

Guilty. When I thought it was an MCL strain I called him a drama queen. Dislocated kneecaps are freaking terribly painful. I wonder why they didn't pop it into place on the sideline? MysticalJet2
I know nothing about this type of injury, but with pain management, couldn't he wear a brace to stabilize and support after a few weeks? or is this just not viable? Can't say I've ever dislocated my kneecap. I've popped a Burser sack in my knee (high school football). And I've blown out my ACL/MCL (baseball). Honestly, I don't recall much pain from either injury. The ACL/MCL was shockingly painless actually, a loud pop (or so I thought I heard, likely in my head!) and a knowing feeling something really bad just happened (cleat stuck in batters box after I hit a groundball to short, I turned to run, but my lower left leg didn't! POP!) and a total lack of ability to stand on that leg, but minimal pain at the time of injury. I don't think Becton was being soft yesterday. It likely hurt alot. And I think his pained expression was as much about frustration and anger as it was pain. Sometimes we fans forget these kids are human, and kids. They're not soulless video game characters ffs, we should cut them a little slack when they get hurt in the moment. 9 2
