We can expect some interceptions and we can expect some growing pains, but he couldn’t hit the side of a barn today. Even the easy throws with wide open receivers were difficult for him.

I wasn’t worried about Zach Wilson last week.  Today it’s the biggest concern.

SAR I

It wasn't a good game. I am not worried at all.

This is the worst Jets team in 20 years I his 3rd year

Yeah ok. They lost to Carolina by 5 and then Carolina beats The Saints 26-7. The 4 INT's hurt but it's not like they were dominated today.  Last year's team was way worse. Do you not understand what they are doing? It's also not about this year. It doesn't matter what has happened before. They are playing like 12 rookies, some of whom looked very good today. Like I said talk to me in 2 years. We will see who is laughing.

Not a dig against you.  But these are all the excuses many of us have heard for decades.  Bottom line is that, close or otherwise, we keep losing.

After today's debacle: The NY Jets are 9-25 in the Joe Douglas era.

Just because things didn't work out in the past has no bearing on what may be. Im not going to bury a QB who had a bad game in his 2nd NFL game because Darnold, and Smith, and Sanchez, and whoever

I really didn't think it was that bad of a game for most of the team tbh. Wilson mad some ill advised throws and that was the ball game. New England did not impress me except for the defensive coverage. It seemed to me that receivers had a hard time getting open. Davis and Cole were invisible. I thought the Oline was ok and AVT and both Carters had good games. Im not even worried about Wilson, not after 2 games. I'll give it the year. I still think this team gets better as the season moves on.

How could it possibly not!

This is how it goes

Jets 1-60 for the last 61 seasons since (1960)

Mets 1 - 35 last 36 seasons since (1986)

Rangers 1 - 80 for the last 81 seasons since (1940)

Knicks 1- 48 last 49 seasons since (1973)

painful to be a fan, but I can’t stop and at least I have seen those 1’s

So because Sanchez, and Smith, and Darnold didn't work out we should just bury a kid QB after a bad 2nd game?  I think he will be a good one. Some rookies actually played very well too. It's never been about this year and thats why they are starting a bunch of rookies. I'm going to give it some time and not overreact. Some of the takes in this thread have been ridiculous.

I have absolutely no problem you giving the kid and the team more time.  After 56 years of watching every week, I'm tired of all the excuses and especially the loses.  Can Zack become a great QB?   Even after today's disaster, of course.   I just won't hold my breath.

Just got home, at least my Nats won (even if it is a lost season for them, lol) to give me some joy, always a fun day at Nats Park.

I know today sucked, and everyone is doom and gloom and ready (it seems) to write off everyone right now.  The GM, the Staff, the QB, everyone.

I'm gonna pass.  While there is little to be happy about right now, I just don't have the energy to see folks argue that two games is a definitive showing of what we are now and always will be, lol.

It's a bad start, for Saleh and Zach.  No excuses.  Ok.  On to Denver.

A Super Bowl title and multiple AFC championship games. There are a lot that can’t boast that.

Do you think Browns fans (or anyone else, really) cares that the Jets won a SB in 1970?  They're a vastly better-run franchise right now.  We also have, by far, the longest current playoff drought in the league.

The only other org that can stake a claim to being the NFL's worst sport are the Jaguars.  And at least they have the excuse of playing in Jacksonville.

So are we giving up on a QB after 7 quarters? Is that better?

Absolutely.  The Cardinals gave up on Rosen in 13 starts and it didn't come back to bite them.

And we'll be giving Wilson at least 17 provided he's healthy.

It's far better to "fail quickly" with a QB than hold onto him a year or 2 too long.  That's how you end up missing out on QB's like Pat Mahomes.

I love how the Browns approached their management and draft and player personnel over the last 5 years or so.  They had no qualms about firing, trading, stocking up draft picks, cutting players etc.  They are now a powerhouse in the NFL by not being shy and cutting sh*t loose instead of beating a dead horse.

By when? What is your deadline?

There's no chance in hell the Johnson's will be willing to pay Douglas, Gase, Saleh (and perhaps Macc and Bowles?) as well as our new GM all at the same time.

Douglas will be back in 2022.  Whether that's the right move or not, of that I'm confident no matter how badly this season goes.

Sell the team, Johnson's.

Welcome to the club, I reached this state last season. Although I did start drinking the Saleh and Wilson cool aid a little. After two weeks it’s back to Gase level play, We are fooked.

Oh, I'm well aware.  I just wanted to know specifically what Mr. Accountability was proposing, because it sure sounded like a "fire them all now!" type thing.

Like it or lump it, this group (JD, Saleh, LaFluer, Wilson) is our future for the next two, and almost assuredly three, years.  Minimum.

Since we are stuck with it, I'm gonna just hope it gets better.  In the realm of choices available, that seems like the right one for now. /shrug

A QB will be awful when the OL stinks, folks want to act like this is not the case. I just hope that Wilson doesn’t develop happy feet out there!!

What are you talking about?  The offensive line was fine today.

If you're going to make an excuse for Wilson at least make a legitimate one.

You have to be somewhat realistic here. Wilson really didnt play against elite defenses in college. While that is a cause for concern, you take into account the skillset he has and build off that. At this point, we know he is a project and not the second coming of Aaron Rodgers right off the bat.  He will need to be coached up with patience and instruction.  He's a young kid and has a sub par OL.  This is not unfixable and they are not just going to toss him aside after a year or two.
