He passed away on august 6th. Gonna miss my old road trip buddy    Edit: below is a text from his niece   “Hi Jim.  I meant to text Wednesday but it’s been a hectic couple of days.

This is terrible news. @Savage69 was the kind of guy that I originally thought you had to watch out for. Then after getting to know him, I realized it was the  other way around. He was the one watchin

John Savage and I met decades ago...when the internet first got started.  We belonged to a forum called the Green House which is now long gone.  John only had one jersey because he refused to invest i

Oh man, terrible news.  I remember my son and I having breakfast with you and Savage in Ft. Lauderdale before the Jets-Fins a few years back.    Really nice guy with a great sense of humor.  RIP Savage69!

And he was right there when we were gonna brawl with the drunk fin fans at that Monday night game in 2010.

Here’s a funny story that I think I can tell now. John was in the go go bar business on Long Island in the 80’s. Christy canyon a famous porn star was one of his dancers. Well the mob started to monopolized the gogo bar industry back then and John pissed them off (he told me this story and still had business cards) lol so that was his secret covert mountain retreat in the ct wilderness when they were looking for him.

That's great!!!!  People outside NY/NJ can't understand that stuff. Late 70's, I was a kid, teenager, on LI working in an Italian pork store.  The apron company started to do a "poor job" and my boss fired them. After about a month of a new company, the rep for the new company came in, almost trembling.  He stated that he was "told" in no uncertain terms that he could NOT service the account and to tell you "my boss" that no one could except the original guy.

Already said my piece about Savage back on page 1. Will miss his contributions to this board. Learned a lot about the game just from reading his posts in the early 2000s on JI, and hated his avatar when trying to scan JI during my high school and college internships/jobs.

Separately, my wife and I were in Ft. Lauderdale on 1/1/17 at a sports bar for brunch watching the Jets beat the Bills. I'm a Jets fan, she's a Pats fan. There were no other pats fans at the place, but there was a group of 4/5 Jets fans at the table right beside ours. By Q3/Q4, the Jets were up 20-3 in a throwaway season while the Pats-Dolphins was a 1 score game with playoff implications. I remember for the first time in my life seeing Jets fans rooting for the Patriots. It absolutely blew my mind. It dawned on me after a few mins that for older fans such as the table next to us, the dolphins were the original hated rivals, and a lot of older Jets fans still hate them more than the Pats.

I don't mean to make this about me, but I genuinely wonder now whether that group was you and/or Savage. Would be an amazing coincidence if so, and weirdly I'd be happy that I indirectly and unknowingly watched a game with the guy.

This, 100%.

And that woulda been cool if it had been Sav.  You never know, it's a far smaller world that we ever think possible.

Just updated my avatar!!!  I will honor him and his GREAT Avatar! Until year end.

It legit took me three years to realize it was a champagne glass and not a thong in Savage’s avatar.

It wasn’t us. The last two games I went to with savage was 11/16 in Miami and 2017 in Tampa. But, I remember in January 2008 there were jet fans rooting for the pats to beat the Giants in the super bowl, that’s insane. We play the giants every 4 years, they’re a nothingburger. I hate the Patriots more than any other franchise in any other sport. As should every jets fan.

100% agree. Can't believe that any Jets fan would root for the pats in any scenario ever. Most hated team, period.
