I always liked Jet Moses. He was fun to tailgate with.

Hahahaha some of the people I had to drive home or to their hotel from our old tailgates. Buffalo Todd and Jet Moses.

didnt boozer call you a pig farmer on the board? And then when he met you at our tailgate and realized how big you were he started kissing your ass at the tailgate? Hahahaha that was funny. I miss our old tailgates, they were epic.

I got banned off the Pornhub message boards couple years back... something about olive oil, latex, and horses, idk.  So here I am, gotta fill the time somehow.

Discovered Jets chat pages circa 2002-2003 at some post graduate schooling library. It was heaven as I remember having to scrounge the NY Post and Daily news for lazy little snippets of Jets news. Cou

Your contribution to my African watering hole thread was epic. Jesus, that’s 15 years ago. Baby crushers were babies.

I think one of my cousins bought me a year subscription of Jets Confidential in 2003. Next year we drafted Vilma and I started looking at the online version of Jets Confidential. I accidentally found JI, joined in 2005 as Fifty One my original user name. Didn’t post right away, eventually switched to The Crusher. 2008 came here and  found this to be a kinder gentler Jets message board. I like it here. Think I might stay.

Loved Jets Confidential. Had a subscription since the Parcels days in 97 and since I had moved out of the NY area it was the only Jets coverage I had. Looked at my profile today and discovered I joined in 2006!  Didn’t realize I had wasted … I mean spent so many years on this site!

ESPN boards I’m the early 2000’s were brutal. One sign up and you had access to 32 forum’s.   Very lightly moderated so every day was a full on flame war lol.

Bounced around  USENET, etc and then Mike Francessa had a board and met a lot of good people there.  Used to hang with a Pats fan who had me to his house in NH and he came to Jet games with me.  He came to my house to watch the Jets - Broncos AFCECG in 1998.  Jets Insider from the beginning and straight here.

Hard to believe some of us go back close to 30 years!

My original message boards were calling my Jets fans friends and bitching about how bad we suck. Before these damn smart phones came out. And if we disagreed on something, we kicked each other in the nuts, punched each other in the face and moved on. None of this stupid thumbs up thumbs down BS. Then I got on AOL message boards and learned everything I needed to know about life, Jets and how the world works. Everybody told me these things and there was no nut punch available for disagreement. Then I stumbled here, and I live for the very moment that I get a nice thumbs up and I cry like a baby when I get a thumbs down

Never understood Sooth's obsession with Mohr.  Loved those threads where Jay got torched for not being funny.  lol

I made the jump from those ESPN boards to theganggreen. Someone on tgg pointed us over to JI during that bongopalooza Reggie bush, leinart, Mario draft… then @SoFlaJets invited me here.

I joined but didn’t become a regular until Ham permabanned me for teasing DWC. I’ll leave out the other details.

Anyway, this is hands down the best site.

I was a long time lurker on JI that finally signed up in January 2006 when Herm was banished (I could have never posted during the Herm era).and Mangina got hired.

Alk recruited me to come over here later that year lol

Jet Moses used to tell me about that site Jetshaters back in the late 90’s. He was using his real name until @Garb told him to change it or risk being killed. Lol so jet mo, sooth and @Bob used to go there and troll angry pats fans that hated the Jets. Then sooth invites them to JI. I think @PFSIKH was on jetshaters too. The board administrator was called “the wizard”

@PFSIKH was on Jet Haters, then JI and Maximus invited me to this slice of heaven.

When I moved to Milan in 2006 I didn't have any friends, so I joined JI and JN.  Too many threads on JI seemed to devolve into some kind of group think where any diverse opinion was met with "ooh, you're gonna get it now"  I also thought that it was odd that JI wouldn't let you post *********.com and people seemed to have some kind of superiority complex even though almost everybody posted on both sites.  Max offered me a fridge magnet and I treated JN as my home ever since.

Max actually sent the fridge magnet in 2018, complete with 2006 schedules for the Jets and Giants!  It's still on the fridge in Silver Spring.

The recent passing of Savage69 reminded me of how I came to internet message boards and where this all began.  It started with USENET which had a discussion group with a Jet message board.  One of the old time posters mentioned the "Green House".   Perhaps that was it.  I neither posted there nor read it.  It took a certain type of computer person back then.   I was a Kaypro man back then - ever hunt the Wumpus? - and quite computer literate (Ah, dot commands).   But that was not an internet compatible computer.  Never once let me down.  Fabulous product.  But along came Windows and whoosh . . .

For me it was the message boards of the NY Times.  The old posters on that board - people like Savage69 and many of the posters who have come to pay respects - came from the USENET boards.  The legacy of those USENET groups lay in the knowledge that quickly arrived at the NY Times board.   It was astonishing and far better than any sports reporting in NYC.  That - in turn - led to a thriving daily discussion on the Jets.  I discovered it and registered on the same day.  Instantly addictive.  It is no exaggeration to say that there were more daily posts on that Jet message board than there were on the NY Times entire platform.   It grew and grew.  Soon the international character of the NY Times audience began to attract Jet fans from all over the world.  It included people from all walks of life.  Many of whom were highly literate.  When a player got hurt, you got a medical opinion.  When a player got arrested/sued, you got a legal opinion and the policeman's viewpoint.  Everybody was on the board..  Sound  familiar?  Back then, it was completely new.  The internet began to shrink the world and you could see it on that board.

Then along came Mia.  A NY Times moderator.  She wiped it all out by banning poster after poster including Henry Hertz.  Last straw, that one.  After that the old posters scattered.  Some went here, some went there.  But together they were the base of knowledge and support which gave strength to every Jets message board that has come since.    It is why our message boards blow away the rest of the NFL.  Take a look at them, you will see what I mean.

When did you start posting on the Jets?  Which site?  Tell us about your early computer(s).

Edit - "Green House".

I remember Mia and the Times/Hertz debacle.  Moved to NY Jets Chat from there. Before that was usenet alt.sports.football.pro.ny-jets.  I was Tutor on there for several years. Some of those guys are still here today. @More Cowbell @SAR I are the first two former usenet posters from the late 90's that I can think of who were very active there.    Who else from usenet or NYTimes is here and what was your screen name?

What year did the Usenet groups start?  I remember AOL and Compuserve back in the early 90s which was my first internet experience.

I was at alt.sports.football.pro.ny-jets for 4+ years from '97 to about 2002 or 03.  Usenet jets board was abandoned by most around that time with the rising popularity of modernized message boards

Same here!  Discovering Jetsinsider was wonderful for me.  Then after scout destroyed the site, I came here, and it has been equal to what was once Jetsinsider.

Started on JI, not really sure exactly when. I noticed some former JI posters have indicated the JI was becoming unbearable even before the sellout to Scout. I guess their unbearable was my nirvana. I loved the free form posting at JI and all of the inside jokes. I especially loved that most of the prolific posters took pride in not taking themselves too seriously. I will forever miss JI.

I wandered the internet for awhile in search of a substitute for JI, and found none could meet the high standards of witticism set by JI posters. Ultimately, I landed for a while in The Hampur with many other JI interwebz nomads, but there just was not enough posters there and too little actual football, so I ended up here. Nice place. Easy on the eyes graphics and good people posting.

I joined here in 2006, but I think I was on JI for a couple years before that. I seem to remember joining TGG first then JI and bounced between those mostly until the Scout thing and then here almost 100% of the time after.

I thought there was like a rec.fans.nyjets or something like that which I visited even before that but not sure

I started at Matt's green house...migrated to JI, I loved JI got such a kick out of all the characters. I modded there for a long time too (only remember perma banning one guy, sorry if it was you and to anyone else who received a vacation during my time there), Anyway I do remember the exodus, I dont quite remember what started it but I always liked Max as a poster, and someone I had met at the stadium so I tried to stay neutral best I could. You've built a terrific place here, hopefully stays active for years!

Found Jetsinsider in the early 2000’s. It was a godsend for someone like me in California that had no one to talk Jets football with. Lots of good memories.

There were some good laughs over there.
