Lol I would. That would show that he should have been playing from the start.

And at what point does saleh reach the point of no return, where if he holds him out 5 more games and then puts him in and he’s good, the coach looks that much worse.  It’s not as if we’ve never seen him play, he averaged 15.5 ypc last year.

This sounds plausible.  But then why say all this crap about knowing all the wr positions, if it’s really about contributing on special teams?  It sounds better and may actually result in the fans and media turning on mims to get on ST so the coach will put him in.  Instead, saleh is killing mims’ trade value by saying he’s either unwilling to put in the work, or too stupid or both.

Saleh is painting himself into a corner. There's no good way for this to end and no logical explanation for their actions.

The lies, the obfuscation, the outright deriliction of duty continues....Kay, LaGreca, Rosenberg not buying the insipid excuses anymore...Saleh stating that even with concussed Elijah Moore, Mims is continuing to 'show progess and is working hard' to try to get on the field...this is insane what is going on and clearly we are being lied to.

Could it be possible that they are protecting Mims ??? Perhaps he is dealing with health/mental health/cognitive issues that they don't want to go pubic ???

Just a very wild guess/suggestion...

Because mims will likely produce when he plays.  Which will only make saleh look worse for benching him when the team is being shut out each week.  It will also call into question saleh’s desire to win at all costs this year, instead of using the year to install systems, culture and essentially letting his coaches learn the ropes.

he caught a 40 yard pass in game 1.  They wouldn’t have let him play if he couldn’t.  Also saleh has said that bechton was going thru some crap so I imagine he wouldn’t hesitate to use that with mims if it were true.

I read in one article that LaFleur went over to congratulate Mims after the 40 yard catch and that there was some kind of a negative reaction by Mims. Something like turning his back on him - I don't remember exactly what happened just that it was enough to make it into the article.

Mims must be seething that he can’t get play while this offense sucks.  He must hate the OC.  Maybe that’s the crux of the issue.

I'm open to the idea there is something more.

So what could the "more" be then?  Are you thinking some other on-field thing, or are you (or others) thinking some off-field drama, or what?

I find Saleh's comments entirely reasonable about Mims myself.  He's either dumb and lazy, but either way, isn't living up to the staff's expectations of him, and they're not going to reward a player like that with a starting job.

But again, I'm open to the Saleh-is-a-liar theory, but then what is the "more"?  I've heard nothing myself that would indicate a more, and no newsies have reported anything at all on a more, so what could it be then that has eluded fans and our media?

I honestly don't know.  I don't think JD would draft a malcontent.  He drafted 5 team captains along with Mims last year.  Thinking he has some kind of Alex Lewis type issues is pure speculation.  I don't think they'd call him out for not knowing the route trees if he had a medical issue.  From the outside looking in, the whole thing seems contrived.  From the bad salmon, to losing 20 lbs, to the training camp depth chart, everything seems off here.  And what dog piles it for me even more is the CS is not calling out the OL or the defense for not knowing their assignments.  The only name that has been tagged by Saleh for "not knowing the Z, F and X positions" is Mims.  Seems kind of personal to me.  JMO...

Does Saleh think people in NY/NJ are stupid?  Maybe he's the stupid one.

Probably. He wouldn’t be wrong.

This isn’t about route trees, obviously, and he’s not airing it out for all the see. Grown men would appreciate this level of discretion and consideration. Grown men also believe in earning a job, big expecting one.

I don’t need to know the story with Mims to see that the vast majority of our fanbase crying about this is 1.) brain dead, 2.) piggishly arrogant enough to think they ‘deserve’ every detail, 3.) would be the first ones to cry ‘keep it in the locker room’.

So, Saleh has a lot to address in my opinion, but bending over for this fan base isn’t on the list.

Yea, it’s certainly not about knowing the playbook. Nobody on offense knows it.

Nobody has considered this or said it, but my guess is the kid might be trying to get himself cut on purpose. This is a pretty common thing now.

Deshaun Watson, but not good, and no hand jibbers.

Love Saleh. LOVE him.

Love Mims.

Saleh is lying about why Mims isn’t even suiting up.

His supposed reasoning is not logical, not rational, makes no sense.

There is something else going on here other than “he doesn’t know all three positions and doesn’t play special teams”.

Its BS.

If you think this is about bending over for the fan base you’re an idiot.  20 points in 3 games.

These Mims needs to know every WR route tree before playing are nonsense.

Saleh mentions during his press conferences that Mims needs to play special teams and I think that may be the real issue. Last season Mims didn't play a single ST snap and now the new guys come in and tell him he's on specials and Mims feels that as a 2nd rounder he's too valuable.

They both take a stand. Saleh says no specials no playing time. Mims says I'm getting paid either way.

And Mims is RIGHT, if that is what he said!

Good Grief!!!

Lmao. He’s lying. You guys are nuts.

He basically spelled out for you

sometimes it is what you think it is

Mims is not putting the work in and they aren’t gonna sit a guy that is busting his hump. Wether that’s right or wrong strategy is another question.

Try hard and suck is the new all gas no breaks.

Let me be clear, I think Mims should be active and contributing. I also think that having a collective tantrum about it is pathetic, and am happy to ridicule those behaving as such - regardless of whether we agree.

My 3-year old likes M&M’s. I also like them. When he lays on the ground and kicks his feet screaming, I (in my mind) ridicule him.

So, anywho, eat my butt.

Ask yourself this. Do other guys that are starting and playing look like they know the play/ playbook?
No, because guys arent blocking, guys aren't running good routes/wrong routes, RBs and TEs late on blocks.
If the CS wont let Mims play because he doesn't know the playbook, what's their excuse for trotting out every other starter that looks like they're lost and don't know the playbook.
Gotta play someone? Maybe mims won't be what we are expecting when he actually does hit the field.
