1. LaFleur needs to script few easy throws to get Zach into rythym

2. Smash the phone booth with a semi and spread out the receivers so Zach can see what’s going on

3. Free Denzel

4. profit

How do you eat while watching these games? You must get some serious indigestion. You poor thing.

Quality over quantity. We added a lot bodies which we needed for depth purposes but we need high level players at key positions. I would leave the CS and FO alone.

For this year, I would let the process play out unless an opportunity presents itself at the trade deadline.

For next year, sign a Top RG even if we have to trade a 3rd or a 4th. There areca couple of guys that could hit FA. Same with the TE positions. But even if guys get franchised, deal round 3 and 4 picks to get it done. Over spend at RG and TE if we need to.

In the draft, get a type flight corner. I dont want to here that this scheme uses 4th rounders. Blah blah. Get me a corner that QBs fear. Derek Stingley with our top pick. Unless Lawson we think Lawson can’t recover in which case go edge.

Draft Tyler Linderbaum with the Seattle first.

The rest is more difficult to spit ball but use the rest of the draft to add depth at OL, TE, LB and S.

I’d go with the edge monster guy. We just may be bad enough to get him in top 5 picks. Linderbaum is a MUST but he is projected to go top 15 so we would have to trade down like we did to get AVT. Do it. There’s a bunch of quality DB’s coming out so grab one with whatever next top pick we have left. Go FA at G, T, TE. We need to get to the QB in Saleh’s system. Lawson alone is not enough. Prioritize edge and OL with those top 2 first round beauties.

You must get rid of the GM.  You can not allow him to manage another off season.

But then you're hiring a GM who didn't hire the HC to come here and work with Saleh.

Douglas isn't getting fired this offseason.  So the only real solution there is he needs to fire a bunch of his scouts and/or some higher level front office people, and change up what they're doing on draft day.

Sell the team to my 3-year old.

He’d hire me and @JiFapono as co-GMs.

@The Crusher as the strength and conditioning coach, head coach and life coach.

@HessStation to model the uniforms after I rebrand the team and redesign the uniforms. Also, the coconut water boy.

@CTM will be the analytics and doping guy.

Oh, and @Pac can be the QB coach, so we have someone to fire by week 4.

Every young QB says the dud behind them is invaluable. What's the actual evidence that Allen's confabs with Matt Barkley or Derek Anderson did him any good? Is Mitch Trubisky, who came into this season having started one fewer game than Allen and has had none of his success, really imparting some special wisdom?

To be clear, I think the discussions Allen has with Trubisky probably have more to do with Trubisky's development, than Allen's.

But yeah, you're probably right. I'm sure the Jets know better how to develop a rookie quarterback than teams like the Patriots* with Mac & Cheese, the 49ers with Trey Lance, or the Bears with Justin Fields. Or every other franchise who has successfully developed a rookie quarterback, for that matter. The Bills are probably kicking themselves for not just rolling with Late Nate Peterman when Josh was a rookie.

Yes, if there's one franchise that's the standard for how to develop a homegrown QB, its the Chicago Bears.

The Jets had Josh McCown as Sam Darnold's "mentor" when he was a rookie.  McCown is supposed to be the posterchild for that role.  How exactly did that help Sam Darnold as a Jet?

No one is suggesting the Jets know what they're doing.  At all.  What @dbatesman was pointing out was that there's no actual link between a quality veteran "mentor" and a young QB's successful development.  And there really isn't.

To try and salvage this season, besides things like penalties and clock management which normally improve with time and reps, its on the offense to improve mainly Mike LaFleur’s play calling. The defense has played well enough so far to win games despite losing 3 starters already. I’ll go by position:

QB- LaFleur has to make it much easier for Zach Wilson. The first drive against Denver should be the blueprint. Short gains on the ground and quick passes for Zach. The drive didn’t lead to a score but Wilson looked confident; you take that with a rookie QB at this point.

I was disappointed with Wilson against the Patriots. He forced things when he should of leaned on his defense and ate up clock. Reminded me of Wentz last year in Philly, every play is the last play mentality, thats going to lose you games. Combined with that blown fumble call early cost us the game imo. He did look better in Denver despite not getting any TDs. Maybe bringing up Josh Johnson and putting Mike White on the PS so we have a veteran helping Zach during actual games on the sideline. LaFleur and Wilson both need to get more realistic with the plays they are running out there.

RB- They can’t abandon the run game too early, even if its not going particularly well at first. Wilson can’t carry the offense like that yet. They need to figure out which RB wants to block. Ty Johnson looks serviceable if not slightly disappointing compared to preseason. Michael Carter has already looked like the most dynamic back on the roster despite the ugly drop against Denver. They both have struggled blocking and its an issue. Assuming he’s healthy why not see if La’michal Perine can block and catch passes with those snaps Tevin Coleman was getting or else why have him on the 53 man roster. Josh Adams is 6’2” 225 maybe see if he wants to block. This is the year for youth and seeing who can provide what in actual games not just practice they should play the 2020 draft pick.

WR- Similar to Wilson make it easier for Elijah Moore. He needs to be in the slot where he thrived in college. He’s not ready to be the Z receiver in the NFL. Have him learn from a position of strength instead of weakness. Put guys in position to suceed early on. He might need more time than initially thought which is fine imo.

Jets might have underestimated how much they need Jamison Crowder. He took a pay cut and there was a possibility of trading him mid season, which would be foolish now. He should be getting most of the slot work over Moore and Braxton Berrios week 4. Corey Davis looked good week 1 but has been struggling with drops since. While disappointing i’m willing to bet that the drop issue works itself out. Wilson is getting covered for because he’s a rookie and rightfully so, especially going against three strong defensive teams, but those aren’t all perfect throws Davis has been dropping. Although im glad he’s taking responsibility as a veteran. Crowder should also help get some attention off Davis. Keelan Cole should be getting those snaps outside over Moore as his knee gets healthier.

Not sure whats going on with Mims but does it really matter if he can play in the slot right now? Crowder, Moore, Berrios, sh*t even Davis can play in the slot they need Mims on the outside. Not a good look for the coaches when guys are dropping passes left and right and Mims can’t get off the bench. He looked good in preseason, his weight/strength looked fine while dragging defenders on his back against the Giants. He’s only had 3 snaps this season all in week 1 and still managed a catch for 40 yards. They can’t say he doesn’t produce when given the chance because so far he has. Get over the bullsh*t and lets get our young draft picks on the field.

Look at how Keenan Allen and Mike Williams two big receivers have helped Justin Herbert by making plays with their size. Davis/Mims both at 6’3” would create issues down field and Zach appreciates having guys who can win 50/50 balls. Watch his tape at BYU there were a lot of those kind of throws it was actually one of the red flags people had with his film. He kind of needs those types of guys if i’m being honest here.

TE- Not much to say here Jets have one of the weakest groups in the league right now. The Herndon trade was good but it hurt depth. Kroft and Griffin are JAGs and don’t move the needle. Zach relied on his TEs in college and it needs to be addressed ASAP. A move needs to be made they have the draft capital. Cleveland should be at the top of the list with so much depth at the position. One of Hooper, Njoku, or Bryant would be a big upgrade. They also fit the timeline of the team age wise; JD get it done.

Offensive Line- Wilson has been sacked 15 times already which is really concerning. The interior, especially at RG, has been bad. Becton getting hurt was a big blow also. With that said they have gotten a bigger share of the blame than they deserve imo. They held up against the Pats for the most part. They’ve had tough matchups against 3 strong defensive teams. The ball really hasn’t been getting out fast enough with a rookie HC/OC/QB combo. The chemistry is still a work in progress with all the off season moves and injuries up front.

While it has its limits, looking at PFF individual grades so far Becton (66.4), Fant (69.2), AVT (62.5), CMG (68.1), GVR (53.9), Moses (63.6), we can see that they have a decent foundation to build on. Keep in mind Becton has only played 48 snaps and he was showing some growing pains in this system this year despite big expectations. I think they need to make a move at RG, Van Roten is really struggling and is holding an otherwise solid group back. Your not going to find any outside help at this point thats worth giving up a draft pick. If Edoga is healthy id try him at RG to see if he plays any better inside. At 6’3” he might be more effective at guard than tackle anyway.

Jets should move Becton to RG when he returns, while reassuring him that his future is at tackle. He’s played inside before at Louisville and is still young enough that it could be beneficial for him. Moses seems to only play RT at this point and Fant can hold his own at LT for now. The goal is to put the best 5 on the field. Obviously Becton, Moses and Fant are top five lineman on this team with AVT and CMG being the other two. GVR/Edoga/Feeney as the backups. Imagine the holes Becton creates inside it’d be insane and less taxing on his lower body while maximizing his raw strength.

Fant/AVT/CMG/Becton/Moses for actual continuity would be solid for a year or two more. Offensive line can’t be a revolving door every year, they need to build chemistry. Constantly having 3 new starters on the O-Line is not ideal. Also you can draft best player available and not be pigeonholed into reaching for a guy based off positional need.

Sorry for the extremely long reply, Go JETS!!
