Which is true?

Are we really just awful at drafting and manage to find all the bad players? Is that really it????

OR

Do we make all the players bad? This seems more likely.

chicken or the egg GIF by Carly Berry

sadly the answer is both

Joe can not identify talent as shown by his drafts and his free agents

The players that we do draft are set up to fail because the team does not maximize their particular skill set -Moore is a classic example of this

Your "classic example" has played 3 games and missed most of camp.  Seems like slam dunk proof to me.   No chance of improvement!

I think all you need to do is watch how darnold is playing to conclude that most of the problem is with the front office and the coaches.  Other teams can get more out of the players the jets draft.  We’re on the cusp of seeing it again if they sit mims and then he gets traded and plays for another team.

Um... these are not the same coaches, or did you forget?

The Jets may literally have the least talent performing well on other teams and they actually got picks for most of it.  Many of them still to come.  This could be the worst argument of all.

Serious question cause I don’t know, but JD and Idzik had the right plan just couldn’t be executed. Mac was an abortion of a hire. All that being said, has the scouting department ever been changed? How could the team have so many bad drafts in a row, through 3 different regimes?

This. But going back to drafting O’Brien over Marino and Brady over Sapp just tells you it’s been an epidemic for decades. JD’s last draft was decent but costly for a team devoid of talent. The jury is still out. But JD’s FA acquisitions are just killing this team. They have been deplorable. The OL is a joke. If Wilson gets seriously hurt this year, heads will roll.

my statement was the jets are not maximizing his skill set and that is true-they are having him play a wr role that is not best suited for him.

It’s crazy

Different era

different owners

different front office

different world basically and still the same result

NY Jets the Bermuda Triangle of draft picks

He is playing the same way for the Giants. Leonard Williams is a good player, but not worth the money he makes, and not for where he was drafted. His production is not related to the Jets ineptitude.

He is also the guy who plays well on a 1 year contract, and the second he has longer term security, stops playing hard.

This is classic bullsh*t.

The guy has played 3 ******* games.  This offense is designed to run multiple slots which is presumably what you think "is best suited for him and his being scheme diverse and able to play inside and outside,

Both.

The reason? We are still doing that thing where we fire the HC, not the GM, then fire the GM, not the HC… I mean. ?‍♂️

We’re currently aligned in this area and the GM is the top of the on field ladder now. This is the main reason why JD should stick around until at least next year.

no it is dead on accurate

as noted kroft and griffin have almost as many reps at slot-that is criminal

-moore has lined up in the slot 36 times berrios has 100 snaps in the slot which is also criminal

the guy that is best suited to play in the slot

Moore is 5-8 170lbs he is most productive without question in the slot -corners are big and strong and he is not getting off the line vs them-this is not college with a lower talent level.
