What positives did we learn about the Jets today?

A few quick ones...

1. No matter how it's going the Jets still trust Wilson to sling it and he still trusts himself to sling it.  We need that mentality by the QB and that vote of confidence from the coaches.

2. Quincy Williams - Breakout game.  We've seen indications earlier but he really, really made a difference.  Jets don't win this game without him.

3. Offense/Defense resilience and balance - This game could have gotten away early.  Jets held Tennessee to 3 FGs to keep the game at only 9-0.  Offense took over in the 2nd half and when the D got gassed, Henry running downhill, etc. the offense was the unit that said, "Not today Tennessee!"

D line is real good.  Lafleur might not be able to kill Zach.

1. Zack is a lot tougher than advertised. 
2. As @Mogglez predicted, Quinnen is on a killing spree.

3. Throwing to Crowder is exponentially more worthwhile than throwing to Berrios.

4. Bryce Hall is playing like a first round CB

Negatives:

1. Someone has to tell Becton he’s a guard when he comes back.

2. The Dolphins have no choice but to trade for Watson or their whole program will implode.

Step 4 went well.  Step 5 will be wacky-time in Jolly Old England so who knows wtf to expect, but let's hope for an easy win against an average Falcons team and hit the bye week at 2-3.

im glad they didnt stop Wilson from going deep after the NE game. remember they all said he needed to be more like Jones and go for the short passes and not be a hero. but going deep is where this kid does well. its a big part of his game. let him be him.

The defense is good and can be continually upgraded in free agency and in the late rounds of the draft....all high draft picks should be on offense and to support the QB until further notice.

Zach Wilson has a ton of physical ability. If he just starts connecting on more of the routine throws he's got a chance to be good.

Those missed throws to Davis and Griffin could have cost the Jets a win. But Wilson has a ton of ability. Today was a step in the right direction for him.

The Jets D-Line is also really impressive.

I learned that I should not base expectations of my football team based on fan site experts.

Seriously:

-Wilson has a bit of moxy and can process plays on the run.

-The jets defensive back field is much better than anticipated.

-This coaching staff is still green and need to manage better to game situations.

Low risk, high reward type pick.  It wasn't incredibly ballsy by JD but he did his research and he made the pick before 31 other teams ever did so 100%, great move.

It's really starting to turn things on their head when you think about this recent Jets approach at CB.  No player taken earlier than what, Round 3 or 4.  Guys like Hall, Guidry, MC II, Echols, etc..... This is BY DESIGN and not luck.  Saleh preached it, the Jets didn't sign any high-priced FAs or chase guys like Richard Sherman.  They had a plan and to almost everyone's surprise it is working pretty well.

I'll get bold.  The Jets are 1 linebacker and an edge rusher away from being a Top 5 defense next year with this hybrid zone coverage Saleh runs.  It's all about the organic pressure upfront with his 4 linemen.  He's got a good group right now with QW, Rankins, JFM, Huff, etc. BUT draft an Edge in Round 1 next year and get Carl Lawson back???  Look out!

Biggest takeaway: Do not try and coach the exciting out of Wilson. Worrying about staying in the pocket and making timing throws misses the point when you have talent like this.

AND, they'll have a TON of CAP SPACE!  It's almost like he had a plan and people are freaking out at step 3 and not waiting at least until step 10 happens before losing it.

In all seriousness, watching the game on TV, I noticed tons of young Jet fans in the stands.  Made me happy.  Glad that we older fans can hand the baton over to the younger folk who can now deal with the angst and, hopefully, a winning history.

I am not going to get overly excited about 1 game,  but I hope they string some together.

 

But it was so nice to see the players energized and having fun and the crowd going berserk. This was the first time all season they looked like a team, and that's a huge first step.

The Defensive front four is the real deal. A good game by the DBs. It is not where your drafted, it is how you perform. Jamison Crowder made a difference. Need that 1A wide receiver and either a center to kick Mcgovern out to guard. Or tell Becton your the right guard and Van Roten can ride the pine.

I learned that Joe Douglas, Robert Saleh, Zach Wilson and Mike Lafleur are even better then I already thought they were.  A young team beating a playoff team in only their 4th game together?  Very impressive!

That was a great game. I was on the edge of my seat, and our team showed some serious resolve! Good stuff from both Carters, the HC, the QB, Franklin Myers, Q. Williams, Bryce Huff and Hall.. and number 56 Quincy Williams?

LaFleur has to call at least 10 designed rollouts per game for Wilson. He’s clearly at his best when he moves the pocket.

1) Zach actually threw a few balls away to avoid big negative plays. Those were actually huge as well to keep the game manageable but don’t show up in the box score. 

2) Zach still showed some of the same mistakes, but they were way less frequent this week. If the Jets can continue to drill good mechanics into him on the routine plays. He’s going to be very dangerous. hope he keeps getting better there because he’s still inaccurate or late on some throws. 

3) The Jets connecting on deep throws is huge for this offense. Opens so much of the game If they can’t just sit on run.

Lots of good things but for me this had all the hallmarks of a good effort loss game after the penalties help Tennessee tie it up.  I was chalking it up as a loss but they found a way to win.  Very happy with the team, not perfect but signs

Zach was wacky erratic and at times made clutch throws. Kid is literally built on a foundation of giving zero fvcks! Been bust boner  horrible first three games and comes out stinks it up first half then starts slinging it like thanksgiving pre Turkey slaughter pick up football.
 

I’m not sure what to think and that’s fine with Zach because he has zero Fvcks to give. Best thing about this game is team feeds off his energy and coaching staff has the balls to let the kid die trying or win! He likely finishes the season with +\- 2or 3 interceptions verses touchdowns.
