Malik Willis is carving teams up on a weekly basis and has taken his elite athletic traits and turned them into high-end quarterback ability. 

 

3. Houston Texans — QB Matt Corral, Ole Miss
Davis Mills hasn’t been that bad, but if the Texans have a chance to select a top-tier quarterback prospect they have to do it. Corral has improved drastically in the last year thanks to a cut down on turnovers and improved mechanics. He’s still rough around the edges, but he profiles as an NFL starter with very good feet and athletic ability on top of a huge arm.

 

4. New York Jets — DE Kayvon Thibodeaux, Oregon
Not the biggest need, but the Jets cannot pass up the best overall player in the 2022 draft class being available at this spot. Especially with another pick coming in Round 1 thanks to the Jamal Adams trade, general manager Joe Douglas can afford to go with value here over a need.

 

5. Philadelphia Eagles (from Miami)—DE Aidan Hutchinson, Michigan
The Eagles hit the lottery with three selections in the top 10 thanks to previous trades. They also hit the lottery with Aidan Hutchinson on the board to fill an obvious need at defensive end. Hutchinson has arguably been the best overall player in college football this year and is the type of high-intensity, highly-athletic pass-rusher this team lacks.

6. Philadelphia Eagles (from Indianapolis)—S Kyle Hamilton, Notre Dame
The great picks line up in back-to-back fashion for the Eagles. If Aidan Hutchinson isn’t the top defender in CFB right now, Kyle Hamilton is. The Notre Dame safety is an elite prospect with awesome size (6’4”, 220 lbs), range, instincts and ball skills.

 

7. New York Giants — DE Drake Jackson, USC
One of my favorite players this season is USC’s Drake Jackson. He’s a top-tier athlete at the edge position and has proven that this season with his ability to play standing up or with his hand down. Opposite Azeez Ojulari, the two could create all sorts of problems for NFC East quarterbacks and offensive tackles.

 

8. Atlanta Falcons — CB Derek Stingley Jr., LSU
You’d love to see a quarterback here if you are a Falcons fan, but it would be a pretty sizeable reach to pick up Desmond Ridder (Cincinnati) or Carson Strong (Nevada) in this spot. And this is why so many folks yelled for the Falcons to draft a quarterback at No. 4 overall last year. The pick they do make—cornerback Stingley—is a super high potential player who hasn’t played at a high level due to injury in 2021 and a quietly down year in 2020. Stingley’s freshman tape was legendary, but teams are betting he’ll pop back to that level once he’s away from a struggling LSU team.

We can point to the needs the Patriots have on offense at wide receiver and offensive tackle, but Bill Belichick might not be able to resist the talent of Karlaftis. A dominant power-to-speed rusher, he has the tools to be the Chandler Jones-type rusher this team has been missing.

12. New York Jets (from Seattle) — OC Tyler Linderbaum, Iowa
Jets’ fans get their wish with the athletic, tough-as-hell center from Iowa. Linderbaum playing with Mekhi Becton and Alijah Vera-Tucker gives Zach Wilson one heck of a start to an elite offensive line.

If that goes down then it would be pretty great. I doubt it happens like that since Thibodeaux is just much better than Neal.

I think by seasons end we won’t be in a top 5 spot but that’s just me. 
 

I do think Linderbaum will be there for the taking though for at least 1 of the picks. He would be tremendous help. 
 

I think priority #1 this offseason is getting Wyatt Teller or Scherff, preferably Teller and doing so at any cost. Gives us major flexibility in draft

Why are the Pats picking 9th? Has Matt Miller even seen Mac Jones' pace?

I haven’t been watching him because I just assumed we had no chance, but the more recent mocks I’ve seen have Hutchinson going ahead of thib. Apparently he’s been playing poor. Anyone have insight?

He's been playing injured and also he's been schemed against pretty heavily. It's pretty hard to scheme against Hutchinson given Ojabo is on the other side. End of the day football is a team game and you have to take this into account when projecting players to the next level. I still think Kayvon goes number one pretty easily. Hutchinson is incredibly well rounded as a player but just doesn't have the upside of a Kayvon (or, TBH, even Ojabo).

I’ve been doing some digging into ojabo and holy hell dude has sky high potential. This edge class seems crazy deep and hutch/thib don’t really seem THAT much better than the rest of the guys.

Hutchinson is the best edgerusher in the draft

I certainly wouldn’t be disappointed if the Jets get Thibodeaux, but I could see him being another Clowney type.

Good player overall but never lives up to the hype of being a consistent, double digit sack machine.

I might even prefer Karlaftis over him

Can’t hold it against a kid that he avoids a non playoff bowl game. There should definitely be questions about his production tho.

2 weeks ago, PFF stated when he was on the field for that particular weekend game, the opponent got the ball out in 2 seconds flat on average. On plays in which he was out, it was something like 3.38 seconds (my guess but it around this number). So stats do matter but it's the advance stats that really tells us the story.

What do you all think of possibly trading up to #1 or #2 for pass rusher? We have a lot of draft capital and where we're sitting right now at 4 & 5 puts us right in some S/DT type BPA territory. I typically prefer trading down but this scheme really relies on that top tier pass rusher.

Hard no on this. Thib and hutch aren’t that much better than guys like ojabo. If anything trade back. 8-40ish is the sweet spot in this draft. If they were like chase young or garret then it’s something to think about. These guys are a step below

He’s has a few things to work on sure. He gets double teamed a lot because the ducks don’t have someone on the other side like hutch has with ojabo which 100% effects production. His ceiling is higher than hutch because of physical traits alone. He probably needs to bulk up a bit to play against the big boys in the nfl. His combine numbers will be fantastic.   I’d still take him over Hutchinson

I was seeking out this thread to post something similar to this.  My biggest fear for Thibodeaux is that he falls to us at 4 and completely whiffs as a prospect.  Being a fan of CFB out west I've had a chance to watch a few of his games and he just doesn't seem like a top draft pick to me.  I think he's got talent, but there are long stretches where I just don't feel like he wants it.  I've got the feeling he's going to get to the NFL, get that money, realize it's way harder than Pac-12 ball and fizzle out.  I really hope we don't draft him.

The sleeper stud edge in this draft is Ojabo. Would he be a reach with the Seahawks pick? Some team will be lucky to have him fall to them, kinda like the Giants and JPP.

Agree about Ojabo.  Him and Jermaine Johnson will probably be the biggest risers (in the edge class) as we navigate through the pre draft process.

Yup. The production doesnt match the hype and his athleticism. Maybe on the right team/coaching staff he could be good, but he's not some Nick Bosa type prospect. None of these guys in the draft are, including Hutchinson.
