I thought:

1) Catherine Jenkins is quite hot, even though she's Welsh.

2) She can really belt out a tune.

3) Whoa...that's REALLY high.

4) It's OK...she has a safety line.

5) The US national anthem is really long compared to the British national anthem (although that wasn't the full version).

6) It's game time!

I thought:

1) Oh...two national anthems, still time to squeeze out a pre-game poop.

2) Oh yeah...that feels good.

3) Damnit...out of wet wipes, looks like I'm dry dogging this bad boy.

4) I really need to clean out the spiderwebs in the corner behind my bathroom door.

5) Corn?  When did I eat corn?

6) Ahhh...right....there was some in that pineapple salsa I ate at the mexican place last night.

7) If it's yellow let it mellow, if it's brown flush it down.  Ok...gotta flush.

😎 Cool...games ready to start.

I was so outraged I wrote a strongly worded letter to NFL Network

Of all of the things to complain about yesterday’s game; this is not one of them

Didn’t watch the anthems. The broadcast was trash though. Missing key replays on plays.

Indeed it does. Hasn't come up as an issue much recently, though.

My 11 year old was flabbergasted. "The song is about how we kicked them out so why would they let us play it in their country?!?!" Bygones.

Anyone else think it was obnoxious and in poor taste to follow a beautiful talented UK opera singer who sang at field level by a self serveing performance by marisha wallace craned to to top of a stadium as if to look down upon everyone there ? It was like she never heard the song before and was trying to make it 'her own'.

Maybe its just me ... seemed in poor taste and and it was poorly executed as well.

Idk .. maybe im just still cranky from watching that sh*t show yesterday.

Our national anthem being sang by her was actually the only thing I enjoyed about the game yesterday.   She sounded so much better than the first singer, by a lot.

Be assured, they're used to it.

The de facto Scottish National Anthem, Flower of Scotland, is entirely about fighting off the English and kicking them out of Scotland.  And Scotland is a component Country of the UK, lol.

If you'd like to be moved by an entire stadium singing their national anthem against their most hated rival, have a wee look here:

And be assured, Scottish national football is about as 'good' as the Jets, lol.

Hey, we had a come from behind game on Saturday night where we looked dreadful in the first half, did everything we could to lose, then fought back to a nail biting finish. Difference is, we actually WON. :D

Are you kidding?  It was the highlight of the entire game.  After the National Anthem, it all went downhill after that.

The flyover was definitely the best Jet performance of the day! :D

1952 - George VI, who died that year and was succeeded by his daughter, Elizabeth II.

I couldn't disagree more. She could have sang the Star Spangled Banner upside down while holding a bottle of Bud Light and it would be better than any version of an anthem where half the stupid lyrics are "God save the queen".

Apparently it's  a walkway that circles the top of the stadium.  She probably walked up a few flights of stairs.

I had the opposite reaction, I was like wow its nice to get to see someone that puts in a little emotion to teh song and not see all these idiot BLM types sitting or kneeling. It was nice to see the Anthem prominently sung and liked it.

I'm really tired of the totally overdone R&B massacring of the national anthem. It's over, it's old hat. It's been done, and a lot of these people need to stop thinking they're Aretha Franklin. Learn the words and stop worrying about hitting the extra high note. I'd like to see how many of these singers can actually explain to you what the words mean without looking at them on a piece of paper.

Agreed.  National anthems are meant to be performed simply.  It's supposed to be about the song and nation itself and not the artist.  And some singers focus so much on the style that, as you note, they forget the words.  Idiotic and narcissistic.

Even Whitney Houston's fantastic performance of the anthem (barely over 2 minutes) didn't take nearly as long as some of the artists do it today.  And y'all aren't Whitney.  Stop it.

Indeed.  London/the UK is kind of a lousy place to try to promote American Football.  Germany is much more interested in the sport.  Hence why 5 of the 9 NFL Europe teams were located in Germany.

Houston's version was spectacular, but she definitely started something bad.

Everyone tries their best to out due her and it's just not possible.

I wouldn't mind this.  Playing/performing the anthem at sporting events really didn't become popularized in the US until World War II.  It doesn't need to be an absolute necessity to have it at sporting events.

Germany would be a more suitable place for the Jets' international games, seeing as BDSM is pretty big over there.
