The New York Jets got some good news regarding starting safety Marcus Maye and linebacker Jarrod Davis.  The pair are expected to play this week against the Patriots and could bolster Jeff Ulbrich’s group which has been impressive thus far.

One question that will have to be answered however his how to deploy Davis while fellow strong side linebacker Quincy Williams has been a difference maker on defense.

Over his past three games, Wilson has racked up a combined 26 tackles, 4 tackles for loss, 2 quarterback hits, a pass defended and most impressively, 3 forced fumbles.  An impressive stat line for a guy who was picked up off the scrap heap after being let go by the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Meanwhile, after a disappointing couple of seasons in Detroit, Davis was scheduled to start for the Jets after signing a 1-year deal in free agency.  While one of the most impressive attributes we see from Davis on film is his ability to blitz, Williams hasn’t been a slouch in that area himself.

So come kickoff, does Robert Saleh go with the hot hand or give the job back to his presumed starter?  Not an easy call for the coach to make, but this week could be a mix of the two as this will be the first action of the year for Davis.  Once both are fully healthy and ready to go.  Could be intereesting.

I kid you not...within 15 seconds of publishing this, Saleh announces Davis won't be playing this week.

Feel free to ignore it and I'll bump it on Monday....lol

Wise move, how could you possibly put Williams down for Davis.  Davis is a sound fundamental veteran who is great for depth.  Williams could possibly be a special find for this team.
