Darnold has another couple of games like Sunday, and Morgan is gonna be the QB. They will regret not keeping him over White. Nobody would have ever claimed White.

Morgan looked bad in preseason. he deserved to get cut.

Morgan chose the Panther's practice squad over ours.  He wasn't dumped.

he got cut by us so yes he got dumped. he was never offered a PS spot.

Maybe the jets think/ hope a qb gets hurt this weekend and they are able to trade Johnson. I still think running with white and Johnson made more sense than trading for Flacco

what happened is we had 3 QBs until Zach got hurt so JD had to bring in another QB. from listing to this board it sounds like they would be happier if we brought in CJ Beathard or Peterman.

if he doesnt make this deal now and someone gets hurt Sunday Flacco might not be around. the trade deadline is Tuesday. somebody could have traded for him now. then this board would have really flipped out...

" OMG JD is the worst. why didnt he trade for a QB right after Zach got hurt. we could have had Flacco or Foles but now they got traded for already. and now we have to get a scrub off of some teams PS that will probably be worst then Luke Folk. why did that idiot wait till someone else got hurt on Sunday when he had all week to get a QB. worst GM EVER!"

thats what this place would look like  if he doesnt make this move and another QB goes down. even if Flacco is here from day 1 he still had to get another QB. this is actually a smart move.

That's like saying cleaning the diarrhea out of your carpet with soda water is a smart move when actually the smart move is to not sh*t all over your floor in the first place.

Who cares about White getting hurt? That is why we have Josh Johnson. Wilson will be back in a couple of weeks. It's insane to have this many backup QBs on a team that's 1-5.

The Seahawks, who are veteran team, lost Russell Wilson so they just scoured the FA market and signed Jacob Eason to backup Geno.

So now the Jets, a team with zero playoff chance, has a better group of backups than most NFL teams. Sheer stupidity.

so if White gets hurt who backs up Johnson? some PS nobody? its only a 6th maybe 5th rd pick . its not a big deal.

if they dont lose like they did on Sunday maybe they dont make this move, but the media and this fan base would kill them if Luke Faulk 2.0 is there backup vs Indy in 2 weeks.

YES! The same kind of guy that 95pct of the NFL has as a backup to their backup. The same kind of guy the Seahawks picked up to be their backup to their backup.
You are acting like this team is battling for a playoff spot and need to use draft capital to protect those playoff chances. No one uses draft capital for depth on a team that will finish with a top 4 pick. It's just a horrible use of draft capital.

I think there's another reason they're protecting Josh Johnson. First & most obvious is because they don't have a QB2 otherwise for this upcoming game, but I think there's more than just that.

As most are certainly aware, the PS QB isn't just the QB3 or QB4 emergency QB. He's the one who studies & mirrors what the upcoming QB does so our defense can practice against that to prepare for the game. That's the idea, anyway. With the new PS rules that went into effect a year or two ago, it isn't only youngins with less than half a season on an NFL roster (or whatever the old rules were) who can find work on the PS: now veterans can be on there, too.

The idea - and honestly it's a sound one independent of how much this defense has gotten trampled upon - is that, in practices, an experienced veteran will be more of a challenge for the team's defense than one who never has been and never will be worthy of a roster spot even as a backup. So as a PS QB who's pretty close to the coaches' ages, I think they think he'll run that PS huddle/offense better than a Morgan type, on top of grasping the team's own playbook better/faster than a young newbie, so they don't want to lose Johnson right now, on the off-chance he actually has to take the field on Sunday.

Also protecting him is hardly a big deal; he's temporarily useful to them and that's reason enough. It's not like there's true outrage along the lines of, omg how could they protect this stiff instead of that other stiff? And it's not like they lose a draft pick by protecting him either. I imagine every week every team protects 1-2 PS nobodies.

Seems like Joe Flacco might help Zach along. I think it’s a good thing. Still excited about our QB and the future.

Young QBs that have been on the same team as Joe Flacco:

-John Beck

-Troy Smith

-Tyrod Taylor

-Jimmy Clausen

-Ryan Mallet

-Lamar Jackson

-Drew Lock

-Sam Darnold

-James Morgan

-Jalen Hurts

I mean I guess if you really want to you could argue he developed Lamar Jackson... but you're not gonna get a lot of backup on that one.

Are you speaking of the GM or owner?

The GM has a fiduciary duties to give the coach the best team possible.

Fiduciary duty? ?

A GM does not have any "fiduciary duty" to do anything. A GM is not a fiduciary; he does whatever his boss, in this case Woody Woodpecker, lets him do.
