Arent we done with this?  We have stopped talking about Darnold because everyone knows he stinks.

The same should now be done for Adams.  Hes not a good football player.  The Darnold of safeties.

My friend, we’ve been through the Sanchez and Geno wars. No one admits they were wrong on the Internet. They just go into hiding until conditions improve. You have to keep the boot on the throat of this otherwise every good game either of them have for the next ten years will embolden victory lap attempts.

  • 37 Solo Tackles
  • 3 TFLs
  • 5 Missed Tackles (t-40th most in NFL)

The following players (non-DL) are among the players that have recorded 2+ sacks on a similar # of blitz attempts or less than Jamal Adams.  You'll notice some of them are DB's and/or MLB/ILB's and not just OLB's:

  • TJ Watt, PIT:  8.5 sacks on 14 blitzes
  • Matt Judon, NE:  8.0 sacks on 27 blitzes
  • Haason Reddick, CAR:  7.5 sacks on 26 blitzes
  • Leonard Floyd, LAR:  6.5 sacks on 24 blitzes

  • CB Tavon Young, BAL:  2.0 sacks on 12 blitzes

Also, here's how Seattle SS Ryan Neal (2018 UDFA) is doing.  Neal is listed as the backup SS behind Adams, and replaced him in the lineup last season when Adams is hurt, when he recorded 2 INTs, 5 Pass Deflections and 3 TFLs:

  • 1.0 Sacks (on 1 blitz attempt)
  • 1 Pass Deflection
  • 2 QB Hits
  • 1 QB Pressure
  • 1 Missed Tackle
  • 100.5 QB Rating when targeted
  • 8.1 Yards per Target
  • 10.4 Yards per Completion

Jamal Adams:  Game-changing playmaker and lock future HOFer.

Thanks JD

Adams isn't worth what he was demanding, contract wise, and the Jets were very wise getting what we got by moving him to Seattle.

Most of us knew that at the time, and even his biggest fans (or folks who just liked having a "star" to point to) realize it now.

Some positions are vital.  Some are nice-to-haves or final pieces to title runs.

Adams is a nice-to-have when playing at an elite level as a pass rusher, and a material liability when playing at anything less.

I never have thought he was an elite pass rusher.  Take almost any safety in the league, give them zero responsibilities on a play and blitz them  5 or 6 times a game and they will manage to get 8 sacks in a year.  Almost all of his sacks have been uncontested.
